Pending BOE approval, the Grandview Heights Athletic Department is excited to introduce Sam Mehling as the new Head Varsity Wrestling Coach for Grandview Heights. Coach Mehling brings over ten years of coaching experience to the position. He previously served as the assistant coach for Grandview Heights wrestling for three years before becoming the head coach for six years, during which he helped coach numerous district qualifiers, three state qualifiers, a state runner-up, and a two-time state champion. Most recently, he has volunteered at the youth and middle school levels.
More importantly, Coach Mehling is a person of integrity who genuinely cares for his players and for the Grandview Heights community.
Coach Mehling stated, “As a Grandview Heights alumnus and former wrestler, I care deeply about this program and the role it plays in shaping young athletes. I bring a unique perspective, having experienced the program at every level—from youth to middle school to high school—and having coached within Grandview for nearly ten years. Wrestling has profoundly impacted my life, and I would not be the person I am today without it. I am passionate about giving back and providing today’s athletes with the same meaningful experience.”
We look forward to Coach Mehling bringing his passion for wrestling, leadership, and commitment to Grandview Heights. He will be reaching out to wrestling families in the coming days.
Please join me in welcoming Coach Mehling as the next head wrestling coach of Grandview Heights!
