Wi******er's Wings is seeking sponsors & vendors for our "Wings for Riley Fund: A Day for the Dogs" event, where 100% of the sponsor donations go directly to funding emergency care and transport for our regional beloved pets.
About the fundraiser: The Wings for Riley fund has been created to honor one of the organization's beloved pet friends, Riley, and to bring medical grants to pet parents who cannot afford the life-saving medical care required for their pets.
The goal of this event is to raise $100,000, which is the equivalent of 10 medical transport vehicles or 20+ emergency medical grants to central Ohio.
Unfortunately there is no emergency transport for animals in central Ohio, or support between vet office and emergency clinic. In addition, an average emergency pet surgery starts at $300 and is typically $1500 regardless of the condition or pet age. As a result, economic euthansia is a sad reality happening every day. Pets are put down simply because parents cannot afford the life-saving care required OR they cannot humanly transport their pet to an emergency clinic for treatment.
The Wings for Riley fund with the Wi******er's Wings non-profit aims to create emergency transportation options for pets of central Ohio and support pet parents through grants in emergency treatment and care.
About the event: Wings for RileyFund: A Day for the Dogs and a Wi******er’s Wings Event will take place on June 24, 2023, from 10am to 2pm, at Baldwin B&B in New Albany, OH. The agenda includes food trucks, beer/wine, vendor booths, a silent auction, nail trimming, pet photo booths, splash pads, and highlight dogs for adoption. 100% of sponsor & vendor donations will go to the fund.
A bit about the Wings for Riley Fund: This fund was started in honor of my family's Riley, whom we had to say goodbye to last fall. Riley was more than just a pet to us. He was a part of our family for over 13 years, and we miss him dearly.
When he was diagnosed with a splenic tumor it was 4:30pm. We had the financial means to do whatever was needed, however, there were no options for emergency transport or immediate treatment when our vet’s office closed at 5pm. This event is not just about honoring Riley’s life, but also about giving back to other pet parents who may be going through the same struggles we did with a lack of emergency transport, or who are faced with a difficult financial decision of treatment for life over euthanasia. The unfortunate reality is there is no emergency transportation available for pets in central Ohio. You have to "hope, pray, cross-your fingers" - that your pet will survive the transport and waiting room for emergency care or overnight or euthanize them so they pass humanly. Also, the average surgeries we have had for Riley and our other dogs over the years ranged from $3500 to $8000 plus the costs of follow-up exams and medications. No pet parent should have to make the decision of continuing life for pets due to cost or transportation. Our pets give nothing but unconditional love and support so shouldn't we do everything to support their healthy life? The Wings for Riley fund will 100% go to Wi******er's Wings non-profit creating grants for pet parents in need of emergency care and treatment where they couldn't otherwise, and also aims to build emergency transport for pets in Central Ohio.
About the organization: Wi******er's Wings ,a nonprofit organization committed to helping pet parents afford life-saving medical care for their furry friends. Started in 2022 following a sad but similar story to Riley, where emergency oxygen was needed for Wi******er, but not available to transport to the hospital for treatment.
