Yesterday, I gave the final ride of the Cycling Without Age Summer 2022 season to Alan Katz, a resident of Creekside at the Village and member of Temple Israel. When I walked to WHV, I was intending to simply collect the Triobike from its summer parking spot in the Zusman Hospice for winter storage in my garage, but it was such a gorgeous day that I couldn't resist offering a bike ride to anyone sitting in the facility's community/living room. Al happened to be there and enthusiastically grabbed his Buckeye baseball cap. Off we went for a stunning ride through Berwick, and we marvelled at the spectacular show Mother Nature presented.
During the summer of 2022, Cycling Without Age Columbus's pilots gave almost 100 rides to the residents of Creekside, The Cottages and Bickford of Bexley.
I want to offer gratitude to our professional partners in those residences: Molly Britt, Elaine Edelbrock, Laurie Gang, Rabbi Deborah Lefton and Tracey Ballas, one of whom wrote, "CWA is pure enjoyment for our residents - to be outside enjoying the fresh air in various seasons."
We have a dedicated pool of volunteer pilots from which about ten provided rides and helped re-position our Triobike this summer. A special shout-out to them: Mike Miller, Mike Gonsiorowski, Eliza Delman, Gary Blumberg, Diana D'Angelo Wolff, Kenny Steinman, Reuven Clein, Yehudit Kanfer, and Julie Politi.
I also want to thank Joseph Kohane and Amy Shevrin, whose garage served as our storage space during the weeks we were riding at Bickford.
Last but not least, thank you to our friends at Roll Bicycle on Main Street, who kept our bike safe and on the road.
See you next Spring!
Rabbi Misha
