The Scioto Southland Civic seeks to enhance life for South Side residents through community action.

Need FREE disaster recovery help from the recent storms? Call Team Rubicon at 740-207-2397!

Team Rubicon has officially started arriving in Columbus. Team Rubicon is a veteran-led disaster response organization that deploys volunteers to communities after disasters to help with hands-on recovery and cleanup.

They are working completely free of charge for qualifying community members, helping with things like removing trees from private property, placing tarps on damaged roofs, cleaning out basements and other critical recovery work.

Now, we need to take care of the people taking care of our neighbors. We are looking for help feeding Team Rubicon volunteers while they are here in Columbus doing this work.

Our final recap goes out to the people who keep our neighborhood safe every single day!

A massive thank you to our local Fire Department, Police Officers, and community safety personnel for coming out to celebrate National Night Out with us. They gave kids a look inside the equipment, talked safety with parents, and shared plenty of high fives with our neighbors. Your presence means the world to this community, and we appreciate you taking the time to build strong relationships with our youth!

Also, stay tuned and keep in touch with us for any upcoming Litter League cleanup events we plan throughout August! Our next meeting is September 14th and stay tuned for more information as well.

National Night Out is not just about the fun and games, it is also about connecting our neighborhood with valuable tools, education, and support!

We want to send a special shoutout to all of the local resource groups that joined us yesterday. They brought fantastic information to our park, set up fun activities for the kids, and took the time to connect directly with local families. Whether they were sharing tips on keeping our neighborhood clean, providing educational opportunities, or offering local family support, their presence made a huge impact. We truly appreciate them coming out and bringing so much energy and enthusiasm to National Night Out!

That’s a wrap on National Night Out 2026! What an incredible turnout at Scioto Southland Park. From the backpack giveaway and Child ID Kits to the balloon twists, bounce house, games, shaved ice, and hot dogs, it was an absolute joy bringing our community together.

We want to send a huge thank you to the dedicated Scioto Southland Civic Association team and community volunteers who showed up early, worked tirelessly in the heat, served food, handed out supplies, and kept everything running smoothly. We also want to thank all of our local businesses, organization leaders, and city partners who contributed time, services, and financial support to help keep this event free for our neighborhood families. Finally, thank you to all of our neighbors who came out to celebrate, connect, and make our community a safer, closer place to live. We are so proud to serve this neighborhood, so please enjoy some of the highlights from last night!

TOMORROW IS THE DAY!

The weather is shaping up to be fantastic, and we cannot wait to see everyone out at Scioto Southland Community Center for National Night Out!

While the festival, food, activities, and community fun are 100 percent free and open to EVERYONE, we do have a few quick guidelines for our back to school book bag giveaway to keep things smooth, organized, and fair for all families:

Book Bag Distribution Rules:

Line Up Time: Please wait until after 5:30 PM to begin lining up for book bags.

Children Must Be Present: Children must be in line with you to receive a bag and Kona tickets. No holds or pickups without the child present.

Limited Supplies: Book bags will be distributed on a first come, first served basis while supplies last for the first 100 students.

Age Group: Book bags are best suited to benefit children 12 and under.

Child ID Kits: Free Child ID Kits will be available for ALL children attending, with no limit!

Whether you are coming for a bag, the free food, meeting local neighbors and sponsors, or just enjoying a beautiful summer evening in the park, there is something for the whole family.
