This will be our first SkateColumbus gathering of the year, and all are welcome to join us!

Our monthly meetings are open to the public, no prior experience with advocacy or organizing is required. These gatherings are a space to share updates on our work, talk about skating and small-wheeled mobility in Columbus, and explore how we can collectively advocate for safer streets and more inclusive public spaces.

At our January meeting, we’ll share our main goals for the year, kick off our committees with an overview of each focus area and ways to get involved for the January–June cycle, and share an overview of the events and programming we’re hoping to bring to life in Columbus from March through October 2026.

Whether you’re an individual skater, part of a skate group, an organization leader, or simply curious, we’d love to see you there.

SkateColumbus is forming committees to help move our collective goals forward!

From now through January 14, we’re inviting people to apply to join one of four committees that will work together from January–June 2026 to advocate for safer streets, inclusive public spaces, and a more skateable Columbus.

Our four committees are:

• Street Safety – focused on safer streets, bike lanes, visibility, and policy that considers small wheels
• Parks & Rec / Permanent Spaces – advocating for courts, trails, and multi-use spaces designed with skaters in mind
• History & Culture – preserving skate history, storytelling, and honoring Columbus skate roots
• Events & Community Programming – supporting meetups, collaborations, and community-centered skate experiences

All are welcome.

This includes:
Individual skaters
Casual and commuter skaters
Skate group and crew members
Skate group and organization leaders
People who care about movement, access, and public space

You don’t need to be an expert or to have done this before. You just need interest, care, and a willingness to work together.

If you’re interested in joining a committee for the January–June 2026 cycle, you can apply now through January 14.
The interest form link is available in our Linktree.

💥 Thank You, Columbus Skaters! 💥

SkateColumbus hosted its very first community interest meeting last night, and WOW, what a beautiful beginning. Thank you to everyone who came out, brought ideas, asked questions, and added your voice to the vision.

Special thanks to the Columbus Metropolitan Library for providing us with an accessible and welcoming space to gather, and for their amazing local history archive, which includes powerful stories from our city’s skate past.

This movement is just getting started. Together, we’re laying the groundwork to advocate for better skate infrastructure, equitable public spaces, and a culture that supports all small-wheeled movement across Columbus.

This is our vision for a more connected, skateable Columbus, built by the people who roll here every day.

Why Columbus? Why now?

We’re building SkateColumbus in a city that’s ready for it.

🛼 14th largest city in the U.S.
🏙️ Fast-growing population
🧭 Major test market for innovation
🤝 Deep roots in collaboration and community

Columbus isn’t just a great place to skate—it’s a city where ideas can roll into action.

With initiatives like , Bike Plus, and our city is already working toward a more connected future. We’re here to make sure skaters—and all small-wheeled movers—are part of that conversation.

Let’s make Columbus a city where everyone can roll freely.

📣 Columbus has always skated! 🛼
From rinks that date back to the 1860s to today’s parking lot pop-ups and street skates, our city’s skating culture has deep roots and a bright future. ✨

Skating has long played a role in shaping community, joy, and creative expression across Columbus. Even as venues closed, skaters adapted—keeping the culture alive through parks, sidewalks, and DIY spaces.

We’re building on that legacy through SkateColumbus — an initiative to bring people together on wheels and explore what’s possible for skating in our city today.

🗓 Want to dig deeper into the history—and the future—of skating in Columbus?
Join us for our Community Interest Meeting on Tuesday, Sept 23, 7:00p at the Columbus Metropolitan Library (Main Branch).

Bring your ideas, questions, stories, and your love for the skate community. Let’s dream together.
