Thanks to your support, the Saruwe High School Well in Selous in Chegutu Township serves nearly 2,300 people. This well had fencing and a runoff pond added in January 2020.

Zimbabwe’s Constitution states that “every person has a right to safe, clean and potable water" yet access to clean water has reached epidemic proportions. Two million residents of Zimbabwe's capital Harare do not currently have access to water... the crisis is even worse in underserved rural communities.

All things start with water ... in Africa, students often miss class to go fetch water, or to care for sick parents or siblings. In many places, HIV/AIDS has already caused a large percentage of children to become orphans, requiring students to drop out and find work to provide food and care for younger siblings. If teachers are sick, classes get canceled for all students.

We not only drill wells, we also maintain them. Many wells go out of service because the local community cannot afford to repair them - often due to the failure of an inexpensive part. We visit our sponsored wells regularly to ensure that our communities don't lose this vital resource.
