There are many different avenues which to travel while pursuing success and longevity. The models that CULTURE Marketplace embraces are networking, brand visibility, and cross marketing.
As consumers and enthusiasts of small/ local businesses, we have experienced situations where customers who are otherwise less invested in the community and more so interested in getting the best value for their dollar-- would run for the hills-- back to "big business" with their money.
As I made the commitment to shop with local vendors, I realized that I have to put in a bit of footwork to make the transactions happen.... I have to search social media sites or reach out to the vendor directly to find out where they would be stationed next. If no vending opportunities were on the horizon, I'd have to try and meet up to grab my product. Meeting in a random area to grab items after work hours (which means rush hour traffic) is quite the headache.
I remember asking myself on more than one occasion: Wouldn't it have been much easier to just run to Target for my earrings, body care products, and a cute handbag? It absolutely would be easier.
In addition to my search and find mission along with my drive-by service that I receive, there is no opportunity for me to learn about any new products or any brand events that the vendor may have coming up unless there is a flyer stuck in the bag that I may or may not see.
Horrific, right?!?
CULTURE Marketplace is not necessarily a new vending concept, as I remember going and spending hours at the flea markets with my mother on the weekends. That said, it is rather a proven model for small business and vendor success. By providing a consistent vending calendar with an informational website for both vendors and customers to keep updated on featured brands and what to expect is a huge start in aiding the brand visibility issue.
In addition, there is always a saying that floats around, "you never know who you are going to meet." I believe in that. I believe in networking. Even if you don't find your next bulk-buying client, you may find a mentor, colleague, or collaborative partner!
Even if all of those things don't happen-- CULTURE Marketplace still provides visibility to other shoppers; still gives opportunity to post on your business pages that you will be a featured vendor; still lends opportunity to go live on social media as you invite your client base and let folks know that they can come check out your samples or see live demonstrations from you.
Why we choose to provide an opportunity like this: because I know that my community is rich and struggling. I know that if we kept our dollars in our communities, we would begin to heal our socio-economic crisis from the inside out. I know some of us have legacies that will build kingdoms if given the opportunities.
