Witches' Ball 2025 Update
Lecture Series Information:
Byron Ballard's workshop:
A Great and Subtle Weaving--Animism as a Political and Economic Force
So much of the interconnected global economy is dominated by capitalism and the domination language found in Genesis that is foundational to these global movements. This workshop proposes a return to animism and the incorporation of this ancient notion into the political arena as well as the economic one. How would this change these systems in the face of global climate transition? Is it even possible?
H. Byron Ballard, BA, MFA, is a native of Western NC. She is a writer, amateur folklorist with a specialty in Appalachian folk magic & healing. She tours extensively in the US & Great Britain. Her books include four on mountain folk magic. The first was Staubs and Ditchwater, and the most recent (2025) is A Feral Church. She lives in Asheville.
Jan Avende will be lecturing on "Building Relationships with the Not-Gods"
We often talk about our patron relationships with various gods and goddesses. But what about all the other weird and wonderful spirits that we share space with? In this workshop we'll talk about who those spirits are, ways to meet them and work with them in a devotional context and have an open discussion about the current ways individual participants experience them.
Rev. Jan Avende (they/them) is an Initiate and Priest of Ár nDraíocht Féin, currently serving as the ArchDruid. Locally, they serve the Central Ohio pagan community out of Three Cranes Grove, ADF and work professionally as a hospital and prison chaplain. They are a talented Bard, Liturgist, and Spirit-worker, with a passion for mentoring others, building resources for pagan families, and making the work that we do as pagans accessible for all. You can see more of their writing at hellenicdruid.com and support their work at patreon.com/skylark913.

Are you just looking for something to wear on a night as fine as this? We have you covered. We welcome a number of vendors to our shared space.
What do I wear?
Almost anything you want. There will be a costume contest, so many will be in costume. Others will be in witchy attire or formal wear; I mean it is a ball after all. Beyond that some will be in ritual wear or just simple everyday wear. I would remind everyone it is November and if you want to wear that sexy witchy outfit you may wish to bring a shawl, cloak or cape in case it gets chilly.
What do you do at the ball?
We do a little of everything. Since it is around Samhain we do have a ritual. We have a DJ and dance, we catch up with old friends and meet new ones, we also have some cool vendors to shop and readers should you wish to have your cards read.
Is there a bar?
Yes we will have a cash bar for those who wish to drink.
Where can I stay?
Out of town guests have many options for hotels in the area. Here are a couple
