"The Columbus Youth Council (C*C) program gives Columbus high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to immerse themselves in city government and learn how they can become stewards in their community.
Selected students participate in several sessions dealing with topics such as the structure of city government, city housing & development, public safety, and much more. Sessions begin at 8 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. Meals and program supplies are provided.
Students interact with members of the Columbus City Council as well as other community speakers. Along with in-person sessions, students collaborate with other C*C students in a community project proposal for presentation to stakeholders in the Columbus community. The topics of previous years included public safety, public health, education, and criminal justice.
