We have a tough update to share…I’ve been sitting with this information all morning trying to figure out what to do and what to say.

Here is the update from my husband who was able to accompany Bear to his appointment:

“So some not good greats news from Bears follow up visit today. Unfortunately Bears hip has luxated and is back in the position it was prior to surgery.

Dr Eby said it seems as though his skeletal and muscular structure forced his hip out of the socket and back to where he knew it to be comfortable. Good news is he is not any worse off today than he was before the surgery but not the results we were hoping for. He’s still pretty drowsy from being sedated but he is a trooper.”

This is such a hard pill to swallow - we have many things we need to discuss and figure out to see where we go from here.

We could use all the good vibes and positive thoughts right now ❤️🥲

Must Love Corsos Rescue is coming to you today being brutally honest. We are closed for intake. We are closed for intake at a time when our beloved breed needs us the most. We are receiving dozens of requests a week. Good Samaritan citizens are rescuing our breed off the side of the road in numbers we have never seen, then coming to us for help. Help which we cannot provide. Owners not able or not willing to keep their dogs are reaching out multiple times a day. Finding qualified homes for Cane Corsos is harder and harder, the market is saturated. Adoptions are down while requests skyrocket, there is no end in sight. And it seems easy for everyone to say to just keep trucking along, helping who we can help. But that doesn't stop the heartache of every sad story we are sent and every sad no we have to say. We are burnt out, tired and suffering from compassion fatigue, along with real life hitting us seriously as well. Here is where we are today- 4 fosters needing their dogs moved to new homes. Today.

Boh- serious separation anxiety, he is likely headed to boarding (long time followers know how we feel about boarding, everything will shut down until he gets out)
Karl- possibly needs ACL surgery, the resident dog in the home is terrified of him to no fault of his own or his fosters
Moe- isn't thriving in a multi dog home, and the heat is making it hard to get his energy out
Haven- has anxiety the foster isn't comfortable dealing with and may also need her entropian surgery redone

This is where we are, and until the 4 above dogs that MLCR committed to for life are in situations better for all involved we are CLOSED FOR INTAKE.
