First, buckle the harness snugly without the coat. Keep your child warm by covering them with a coat or a blanket over the buckled and tightened straps.

November is American Diabetes Month!

The SCPHCA joins the nationwide effort to raise awareness about diabetes and encourage proactive health management. Diabetes is one of the fastest-growing chronic conditions, but healthy lifestyle choices—like eating well and staying active—can often prevent or delay Type 2 diabetes.

We support our member Community Health Centers, which provide vital screening and education to help our South Carolina communities manage their health and understand their risk. Know your numbers, know your risk!

Rural Health Transformation Program Updates
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has launched the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP), which will provide $50 billion to support rural providers from 2026–2030. States with approved Rural Health Transformation Plans will share half of the funding equally, while the remainder will be distributed based on state data and metrics.

Key Dates:
- State applications due: November 5, 2025
- Awards announced: December 31, 2025

The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) hosted a webinar this week outlining state-specific plans to invest resources in rural communities, with a focus on:
- Diabetes
- Heart disease
- Stroke
- Sickle cell disease
- Maternal health
