PSA - Mind the mile markers. As you are traveling on the Hop River Trail, you will notice mile markers like the one shown here. Take note of the markers. If you ever have difficulty or an emergency, use the markers to reference your location. Marker zero is in Willimantic, where the Air Line Trail meets the Hop River Trail. Mile 21 is at Colonial Road in Manchester. New markers will be added once the connection from Colonial Road to Main Street in Manchester is complete. When reporting your location from this marker, heading toward Manchester you would say “I am between mile markers 12 and 13 in Bolton”. Emergencies (illegal activity, hazards) on the Hop should be reported directly to Environmental Conservation Police at 860-424-3333. For medical emergencies, call 911.
