Green River Lake Campers

Green River Lake Campers Many people in Adair and Taylor counties want to restore primitive and dispersed camping in and around Green River Lake. This page is our home base!

For many years dispersed primitive camping has not been allowed on Green River Lake. This means you are not allowed to take your family down to the lake or river and setup a tent and enjoy a weekend. Camping is allowed in designated campgrounds/areas ONLY. The premise behind this was to reduce littering in and around our lake back in the 80s. As anyone can tell you, the trash in the lake is still

there and that argument is invalid. Campers, hikers, and lovers of the outdoors will by nature pick up trash and haul it out, even if it is not their own. Dale Hollow and Lake Cumberland both allow dispersed primitive camping in some form or fashion. We have began a research and dialogue in hopes that we can have the same privileges on our lake. Many people in our community have fond memories of camp outs on the lake. It is time that our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews enjoy the same. Our young people have very little to do in the Columbia and Campbellsville area, and getting them hooked on nature in such a beautiful location with dispersed camping is a benefit to the entire community. This would also bring in revenue for our area as those all around Kentucky would also enjoy the expanded lake privileges. Contact us at [email protected]
