Thank you to the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce for asking me to host the awards dinner for the 46th Annual Summit last week! It was a privilege to moderate my first event and to present the accolades to various South Carolina elected officials and business leaders. 🇺🇸

This time last week, we wrapped up the final SC Chamber of Commerce Annual Summit before our organization merges with the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance to become South Carolina Manufacturers and Commerce (SCMC).

This members-only event has been the premier gathering for South Carolina’s business leaders, bringing together top professionals from across the state for almost a half-century. Through engaging receptions, insightful panels and speakers, and numerous important conversations had, there was not a dull moment at the Wild Dunes Resort last week.

During this influential event, we proudly recognized the recipients of our Business Leader of the Year (Steve Spinks) and Public Servant of the Year (Dr. Tim Hardee) Awards, announced the inaugural Economic Engagement Award winner (Boeing SC), and presented Business Week student scholarships. We also presented our 2025 House Legislator of the year (Rep. Brandon Newton) and our 2025 Senate Legislator of the year (Shane Massey). Congratulations again to all of our amazing award winners!

As we reflect on the success of the last four decades of this event, we are inspired by the continued dedication of South Carolina’s business community to advancing growth, innovation, and opportunity across our state. Thank you once again for your participation, engagement, and continued support of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce as we enter this next era.

Big news for South Carolina's business community! 📰

The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance are merging to form South Carolina Manufacturers and Commerce (SCMC), a powerful new voice for business and industry across the state.

Effective January 1, 2026, SCMC will build on the leadership and resources of both organizations to strengthen advocacy and drive growth for South Carolina’s businesses and families.

Sara Hazzard will serve as the organization's President and CEO.

We are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 Business Leader of the Year award and the 2025 Public Servant of the Year award, which will be presented during the SC Chamber’s 46th Annual Summit, presented by Ogletree Deakins, October 28th-30th at the Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, South Carolina. This year’s awards recipients are:

Steve Spinks is the 2025 Business Leader of the Year in recognition of his unwavering commitment to improving South Carolina’s business climate, his positive contributions to the state’s business community, and his dedication to giving back to the communities the Spinx Company serves.

The SC Chamber’s annual Business Leader of the Year award recognizes an individual who is the embodiment of personal success, and who has demonstrated a business record based on ethical conduct and corporate responsibility, public service, contributions to the preservation of South Carolina’s government, and commitment to creating a favorable business climate to improve the state’s economy.

🏆 2025 Public Servant of the Year: Dr. Tim Hardee, President, S.C. Technical College System

Dr. Tim Hardee is the 2025 Public Servant of the Year in recognition of his lifelong commitment to championing affordable, accessible, and relevant education for all South Carolinians, and that individuals across our state have equal opportunities to flourish and create a better life for themselves and their families.

The SC Chamber’s annual Public Servant of the Year award recognizes an individual who has served, or currently serves, as a key official in state government and has contributed to the overall well-being and health of the state.
