We were asked on a different post to create an Amazon wish list for trail cameras and other gear to help us catch the person and animals attacking the burros near our homes in Reche Canyon.

If you are interested in helping the group of residents coming together to protect our burros and bring their attacker to justice please use the following Amazon wishlist.

Hello Reche Canyon Residents and lovers of all things rural!

Today we were presented with an opportunity to purchase over 100 acres of land that could potentially provide residents with another point of ingress and egress in the case of an emergency and allow emergency personnel to access the canyon easier should we need fire, medical, or police support.

The price tag is reasonable but would require a substantial amount of fund raising and cooperation with San Bernardino County. This morning we reached out to Sb Co Fire Chief Daniel R. Munsey's office to test the waters for a partnership and collaboration on this possibly life saving opportunity for our canyon.

The goals of this purchase would be to:
1. Increase EMS response times to Reche Canyon via an additional emergency only access point to the canyon from the San Bernardino County side.

2. Provide an additional evacuation route for residents incase of fire or flood.

3. Preserve the 100+ acres as open and untouched space in Reche Canyon, providing additional safe grazing for burros and hiking and horseback riding space for residents and visitors.

This IS NOT intended to be a toll road or shortcut for residents or commuters.

We will keep our community updated if there is merit to the purchase. If you're interested in supporting this purchase through fundraising or volunteering your time and talents (real-estate, book keeping, surveying, grading and ground work) please send us a DM so we can being to create support group around this potential project.

Thank you, and as always - Keep Reche Canyon Rural!

This morning we joined John Echevarria and a few other community members to pick up trash along Reche Canyon Road and Washington. As many of you know this area is frequented by vagrants and panhandlers. While we cleaned from the appartments to Washington and RCR and from Mojave to Hunts Lane we picked up enough trash to fill a large dump trailer. Thanks to Renteria Construction & Equipment for bringing the trailer and the help!

We also encountered a couple panhandlers shooting up in broad daylight in Washington. One just finished begging for money in the middle of the intersection we were cleaning up. John let them know they're not welcome in our community and in our neighborhoods. When they left they left trash everywhere, a dope baggie, used hypodermic needles, and other drug paraphernalia. Colton PD was dispatched to address the issue when we discovered the vagrants have cut the chain to the drainage basin and are living under Washington in the covert. We also reported a very large water leak in a supply pipe to the City of Colton and a downed fiber optic line to AT&T. All together it took less than two hours and the area looks fantastic.

If you'd like to see more Reche Canyon Clean Ups along RCR it in our community please let us know in the comments. We're thinking about hosting monthly clean ups or adopt a road portion so we can keep our community beautiful.
