Hello Reche Canyon Residents and lovers of all things rural!
Today we were presented with an opportunity to purchase over 100 acres of land that could potentially provide residents with another point of ingress and egress in the case of an emergency and allow emergency personnel to access the canyon easier should we need fire, medical, or police support.
The price tag is reasonable but would require a substantial amount of fund raising and cooperation with San Bernardino County. This morning we reached out to Sb Co Fire Chief Daniel R. Munsey's office to test the waters for a partnership and collaboration on this possibly life saving opportunity for our canyon.
The goals of this purchase would be to:
1. Increase EMS response times to Reche Canyon via an additional emergency only access point to the canyon from the San Bernardino County side.
2. Provide an additional evacuation route for residents incase of fire or flood.
3. Preserve the 100+ acres as open and untouched space in Reche Canyon, providing additional safe grazing for burros and hiking and horseback riding space for residents and visitors.
This IS NOT intended to be a toll road or shortcut for residents or commuters.
We will keep our community updated if there is merit to the purchase. If you're interested in supporting this purchase through fundraising or volunteering your time and talents (real-estate, book keeping, surveying, grading and ground work) please send us a DM so we can being to create support group around this potential project.
Thank you, and as always - Keep Reche Canyon Rural!
