The time to ACT IS NOW! The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) is now accepting public comment on options that would protect Atlantic Menhaden and the ecosystem in the Bay. You can make a difference! The easiest option is to sign on to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) by completing this alert, your signature will be added to CBF's comment letter which will be delivered to ASMFC by their Menhaden Campaign Manager. ASMFC needs to hear from you now! Stay tuned for other ways to make your voice heard!

Stand with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and call on the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission to approve conservation-minded reforms that better protect menhaden and support a healthy Chesapeake Bay ecosystem before the October 9 public comment deadline.

A plan to slash the large-scale commercial harvest of Atlantic menhaden in the Chesapeake Bay later this year could help starving osprey chicks and other struggling fish but could also hurt a Virginia fishing village where hundreds of jobs rely on menhaden.

The TRCP will be encouraging anglers and conservationists to support stronger protections for menhaden in the Chesapeake Bay during the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s public comment period for Addendum II proposals, starting in mid-August.
