SAGE Update: Yes, you heard right.

SAGE has confirmed GCISD will no longer provide a dedicated GT Specialist at every elementary campus for the 2026-2027 school year, straining the overall program ability to meet the needs of all GT identified students in the district. Reminder, this means we are going from 11 to 6 in one year, with the same number of GT identified students, which has been about 17% of the district for the past few years.

While we await further confirmation on the specifics, SAGE does not support this decision. 👈

Our students deserve consistent, campus-based expertise.

If you are concerned about your child’s experience for next year, submit issues and concerns to your principal.

We continue to seek clarity and better understanding regarding these changes.

We are aware an email went out to all GT elementary families from Advanced Academics Thursday afternoon. We have heard many parents did not receive it, not seeing it in Spam.

If any parent feels comfortable sharing that email here - we can help make sure all GT families are getting the same info.

SAGE would like to provide an update to our members regarding the Place 5 and Place 6 candidate forum recordings.

As previously shared, we experienced an unexpected technical issue that impacted audio for one candidate in Place 5 and one candidate in Place 6. We regret that this issue was not identified at the time of recording.

We carefully considered options for sharing portions of the original recordings. After thoughtful review, SAGE determined that releasing content for one candidate but not their opponent would not align with our commitment to fairness and consistency for all candidates.

The candidates in Place 5 and Place 6 also considered the opportunity to re-record their responses. Due to the timing of early voting and the demands of both their professional responsibilities and active campaigns, the candidates are unable to participate in a re-recording at this time.

They expressed appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the forum and for SAGE’s efforts to provide information to the community.

SAGE sincerely appreciates their understanding and professionalism in response to these unforeseen circumstances. We are grateful for their participation and their continued engagement with our SAGE community.

To our SAGE community: We want to provide an update on the candidate forum video we planned to share.

After recording, we discovered that a microphone issue prevented audio capture for two candidates’ responses, even though their videos were recorded properly.

Our goal is to ensure that all candidates are represented fairly and consistently. Because of that, we are working with the impacted candidates to re-record their responses so the final video reflects all participants equally.

In the meantime, we will begin sharing the candidates for Place 7, as their audio was not affected.

We understand that early voting has begun, and we share the urgency of making this information available. At the same time, we believe it is important to take the extra step to ensure fairness and accuracy for all candidates.
