We have until OCTOBER 20 to make public comments about this!

In a nutshell, the CDC is planning to drop the majority of the disability-related questions from the Federal Health Survey, including those which help identify those with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The survey was already considered to be flawed, only identifying about half of the disabled adults the federal standard for measuring disability identifies.

Data from the survey influences federal funding decisions and allows researchers to track health trends among people with disabilities, which can inform care from medical providers.

In addition, the CDC plans to move from face-to-face interviews to online and paper surveys for the majority of respondents, which brings concerns about technology access and accessibility issues.

TEXAS FRIENDS… The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has released its 2026–2027 Special Education Back-to-School Update. The update highlights CHANGES to special education rules and when those changes take effect. Some changes take effect later than others.
