Open your browser and do a basic search for information about hydropower and water issues in the Pacific Northwest, and you will find that 90% of the content is activist-created hostility toward the idea of working rivers. What little positive content that exists is seen by virtually no one and lacks quality and substance.
But at Armchair Engineer and the Center for Sustainability and Working Rivers, we are proving that it doesn't have to be this way. It IS possible to create engaging, fact-based content that people enjoy watching and encourages positive conversations about the benefits of hydropower, flood control, and agriculture.
In two days, this one video has racked up nearly 40,000 views and 6,000 hours of watch time. This is without spending a single dollar on advertising or forcing people to watch a few seconds before they click "skip ad."
This video isn't done growing. But it has already claimed the number one search position for the subject (don't believe me? Type "Dworshak" in incognito mode into search and YouTube and see what pops up).
