Congratulations to the Enyarts!!
♦️The 2025 Delaware County Fall Fair is dedicated to Ronnie Enyart & Family - The 2025 Farm Family of the Year♦️
Ronnie knew from a young age that he wanted to pursue a career in agriculture. He was an officer for Chouteau FFA three years serving as president his senior year. He grew up involved with his grandfather and dads cow-calf operation. He graduated from Chouteau High School in 1964. He attended NEO A&M College for two years before transferring to OSU where he graduated with a degree in agriculture education in 1968. In 1968 Ronnie was hired as Agriculture instructor for Colcord High School. The school had never participated in outside activities.
Having graduated from an active FFA chapter, he wanted the same program for Colcord FFA. His program consisted of leadership activities, judging teams, welding and showing livestock at the county fair. The students and the community wholeheartedly accepted the changes. Colcord FFA participated in the Delaware Spring Livestock Show for the first time in 1969.
Ronnie had a lot of success with his Ag program. Over the years 150 students received the State FFA Degree. Colcord FFA became well known across the state for its agronomy teams winning the state championship numerous times. Many students received agronomy scholarship’s from Eastern Oklahoma State College.
Ronnie leases 165 acres where he raises cattle. He became interested in the Simmental breed after observing his students showing this breedat the County Livestock Show. He admired their growth ability and how docile they were. He then started his herd with crossbred Simmental heifers, eventually adding registered Simmental cows. His herd grew by retaining the heifers each year. He began using a Simmental Red Angus cross bull coming from the Leachman Ranch in Wyoming. After several years his herd changed from Simmental to all Red Angus. Recently he put a Balancer bull with his Red Angus cattle resulting in thicker, more muscled calves. He is known for the quality of his cattle having sold many herd bulls and heifers. Several buyers are repeat customers.
As we are progressing to a new, bigger, more modern fairgrounds it seems appropriate to remember the past. In the spring of 1969 the county had a one day hog show held at the Delaware County Sale Barn. In the next several years as the number of hogs being shown grew, the County Agent, fair board and county agriculture teachers decided there was a need for a county fair grounds. In 1977 the dream became a reality. Now, in 2025, the new dream of a bigger, better fairgrounds is becoming a reality. This much needed facility will serve FFA, 4-H and community activities well for many years to come. In 1968 Ronnie married Carolyn Pierce. She graduated from NSU in 1971. She taught elementary school and was the librarian when she retired in 2012. They welcomed their first son, Wade, in 1972. Brett followed in 1974. Both boys participated in the spring livestock showand received the State FFA Degree.
Ronnie takes pride and joy in his sons. Upon graduating from NSU Wade started his teaching career at Colcord schools teaching history and coaching girls basketball. He had a successful coaching career taking histeam to the state tournament in OKC once. He was a track champion race car driver at Salina Highbanks Speedway. Unfortunately, a debilitating disability ended both his career and hobby. Wade married Kim Rabbit in2000. They have a daughter, Mackynzie, and a son, Jacob, who is Papa’s train chaser, PBR and rodeo buddy.
Brett graduated from NSU College of Optometry in 2000. He continues his education with a residency at Triad Eye Institute in Tulsa for a year where upon completion he was hired as a full time staff optometrist. He purchased Advantage Eye Care clinic in Skiatook working there one day a week and working at Triad four days. He married Cyndey Smith in 2009. They have two sons, Benjamin and Brody. Ronnie spends much time with his grandsons who love to come to the farm.
Ronnie has been an active member of the Delaware County Fair Board for 57 years. He is a retired volunteer fireman. He is a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church. He feels God placed him in the Colcord community and he has been very blessed to have had the career and life he has had.
