Bluey has officially joined the rescue!!!

Bluey got a bath, which he was not a fan of, and overall road well in the car with just a little bit of whining. Then he explored in and out of his foster home, which has the Poesten Kill right in the backyard!

Bluey and his foster sister will have some adjusting to do, but overall they did the best they have. This boy is such a ham and we think he is going to be great!

We want to thank Paula again for doing such a great job with getting Bluey healthy before coming to us, and Lauren and Tony for fostering. It takes a village!

We’ve been working behind the scenes while the City of Troy has been nursing this boy back to health. Bluey was used as a bait dog, and had an embedded prong collar, severe dog bite wounds, and was left for 2 weeks without food or water. His “family” moved out and left him tied up outside.

We already had a couple interested in fostering a dog when we learned of Bluey, so we all went to meet him 11 days ago. Bluey was so scared, would p*e on the floor, and hide behind everyone, yet desperately wanted love. He even did great with a toddler who was there to meet other dogs.

Since then, we’ve visited Bluey multiple times and brought him lots of goodies. He got his stitches removed, gained some weight, received his vaccinations, and is truly a new dog.

Bluey is now so happy and playful and loves to go for walks. Despite everything he’s been through, Bluey likes everyone he meets, wants to play with other dogs, and does not show resource guarding.

These are photos from the first day we met Bluey until today, and what a difference thanks to his personal assistant, Paula 🤣

We will be picking up Bluey to bring him to his foster home on tomorrow , whether his foster sister likes it or not. 😂

It really is amazing how much we can learn about a dog in such a short amount of time just by someone fostering and getting them out of the kennel.

Sarabi went to the vet yesterday for her Wellness Exam. She weighs 43lbs and the vet said that is her ideal weight. Sarabi’s bloodwork and urinalysis were normal, but her heart worm/tick test showed she has Anaplasmosis, so she will be on Doxycycline for two weeks. Sarabi will be getting spayed next Friday, but that doesn’t mean she can’t start searching for her forever home. She came to us already having her vaccinations, and was a good girl the entire time and all the staff loved her.

Then we went for a walk on a nearby trail and Sarabi was not phased by bicycles and people walking by. We did not encounter any dogs, but she is not normally reactive on a walk, even though she needs to be the only dog in the home. Sarabi loves to explore and walks well with an Easy Walk Harness. She is nervous in the car but rides well.

Sarabi is very affectionate and likes to snuggle, but can also be independent. She is housebroken and crate trained and enjoys going in there on her own to relax. Sarabi will also patiently wait if she is separated from you and can still see you.

Sarabi knows her basic commands and learns new things quickly. She is energetic and playful but easily settles. Sarabi loves running around with her toys and playing tug of war.

Sarabi is currently living with ducks and doesn’t bother them at all, but has not been tested with cats. She does get overly excited when seeing tiny dogs, so we assume this type of focus would be the same. Sarabi is good with young children but could easily knock them down.

Teddy is looking for his perfect match! After some trials and errors, we’ve realized Teddy is in need a home with another dog to keep him busy and happy. He loves trying to play with his foster siblings, even if they may not want to play with him. 🤣

Another dog in the home keeps this busy body occupied and not constantly looking for attention from his human. Teddy has no issues around food and enjoys cuddling in with everyone at night. He can entertain himself with toys and bones, but also loves to be played with.

Teddy loves to go for walks, even if he doesn’t think anyone else should be at the same time. Teddy has what we like to call “little man syndrome,” so he is not suitable for apartment life, and would prefer a home where there aren’t so many people around, especially children. He is currently working on his leash training and had a great time at Petsmart with his foster mom.

The vet thinks Teddy is between 5-7 years old, but his energy level makes us think otherwise. Teddy is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, crate trained, and is almost fully housebroken. He does great in the car and loves to go for rides. Teddy saw a cat at the vet and didn’t pay attention to it.
