A dogs purpose...
When we got a call on 113° summer day 2 summers ago, that there was a crate full of small puppies left in the sunshine that the local law enforcement werent willing to get involved with due to outstanding warrants against the person who had them...what do we do? We couldn't let them die. We were already over full. Way beyond max. No room for them. Shelters wouldn't take. So...we went to the ATM and pulled out funds we didnt have to negotiate these dogs away from the neglect caused from addiction and get them safe...
We built them their own playyard, gave them a kiddie pool, good food, room to romp & play and hope for a new life.
Of the 8....it took 1 year to get 2 placed. Another year...and the 3rd and 4th are finally placed.
And they are placed with purpose...and we are so proud of the work they are doing.
First placement Kayak, the water lover, is now the assistant coach and team mascot for a teen rowing program in Oregon. He goes to work and encourages young people every day to strive for greatness. He loves his "job" on the boat every day with his dad.
Cowboy, was just placed last week in a home who needed joy. A lovely young family who tragically lost their 16 month old baby boy to a rare genetic disorder.
The grief is insurmountable...and despite it, this family is seeking to find joy for their young boys where they can.
Cowboy is providing a loving scruff to cry into for the kids, and mom & dad. He intuitively knows when a calm and stable close cuddle is needed to remind them that they are going to make it through. And hes helping provide bursts of joy, as childhood should be, despite loss.
Cowboy and his Mamma will be training to become certified children's grief support volunteers in the children's hospital once she catches her breath. Together, they will honor the little life of their precious boy in heaven by loving on and providing comfort to those in fearful and difficult places.
This is rescue.
This makes it worth it.
Thanks for being a part of our team to support our efforts to make a loving impact through these little blessings called "dogs".
If youd like to support our work, please consider a contribution. Every bit helps.
