What a great time we had at the Strengthening Families Month Kickoff Family Night this afternoon! So fantastic to see so many families stopping by our agency stations for fun activities and enjoying the 🌞 out on the playground.

Thank you to Coeur d'Alene Mayor Dan Gookin for reading a mayoral proclamation stating that April is officially Strengthening Families Month in CDA.

Stay tuned to find out who won the 🎢Silverwood🎡 tickets...*drum roll*

Parenting is incredibly rewarding, but let’s be real, it can also be deeply stressful. 🌪️

Parental Resilience is one of the five Protective Factors of Strengthening Families. It isn’t just about toughing it out; it’s the ability to manage stress and bounce back during life's inevitable storms.

Why is it a Protective Factor?
When parents have the tools to handle stress, they can remain emotionally available for their children. Resilience allows us to respond with intention rather than reacting out of frustration. By building this "inner muscle," we create a stable, safe environment for our kids, even when the world feels overwhelming.

It’s not about being a perfect parent. It’s about:

🤝Building a support system you can lean on.

🌿Learning healthy ways to cope with daily pressures.

🆘Knowing that it’s okay to ask for help when the load gets too heavy.

Remember: Taking time to recharge isn’t selfish. As the graphic says, taking care of you is taking care of them. It’s what helps you show up with the steady, nurturing care your child needs to flourish. 💙

Hope grows when family and community strengths are seen, supported, and lifted up. During April Strengthening Families Month, we focus on what helps families stay strong — caring relationships, practical support, shared responsibility, and communities that show up for one another.
