Who we are:
Eighteen years ago, the Depart. Of Family Services began accepting items for families needing help at Christmas. It didn’t take long for them to discover that they didn’t have the manpower or space to accommodate the generosity of our community. They called people they thought would commit to helping organize and distribute these items to community members. This is how Holiday Helpers was started. In 2013, we helped nearly 300 families in the Cody Area. You can come in, or call Jacque, to pick a specific family’s wish list. This allows you to sponsor a family that touches your heart and you can afford to shop for. We ask that you buy two or three gifts for each person in your chosen family. Some sponsors do more as they see fit. Then wrap those gifts, tag them with identifying information and return to the HH Center by Dec. 18th.
2. Ask any of us at the center what items are asked for and needed the most. It could be a wish list item, a personal care item (ie: shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toilet paper), or maybe you can afford to buy several of these items. Some wishes we receive every year are:
Toilet Paper Laundry Soap Bath Soap (Liquid and Bar)
Shampoo and Conditioner Liquid Dish Soap Diapers (all sizes)
Socks Towels Paper Towels
Board Games Barbies Craft Items (Crayons, Markers, Sketch Pads etc.)
3. Monetary donations are always welcome. Some of our sponsors find it easier to donate money to allow us to purchase items families have specifically asked for. This is a great way for us to get those items that may be a little harder to come by for a family or provide several families with much needed household items.
4. TIME - We need gift wrappers to help wrap over 3000 gifts a year! Anyone is welcome to come wrap during the following hours this year. Dec 10th 5:30-9PM
