Today is all about celebrating those tail-wagging, heart-healing best friends of ours… it’s National Hug Your Dog Day! 🐕🤗

Whether they’re big, small, goofy, shy, or somewhere in between—our dogs give us unconditional love every single day. Today, we return the favor with a little extra squeeze (only if they love hugs, of course! 😉).

At Rescue and Recover, we’re especially grateful for every pup who has found their forever home—and for those still waiting for theirs. 🐾💕

If your dog isn’t a hugger, a belly rub, a treat, or a walk will do just fine! However you show it, make sure your pup knows just how loved they are today.

April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month—a time to raise awareness, show compassion, and take action for animals in need 💛

Every day, animals rely on rescue organizations and the support of our community to stay safe, loved, and cared for.

⛈️ Thunderstorms Are Coming – Keep Your Pets Safe! 🐾

Storms are expected in some areas later today, and while we may understand what’s happening outside, our pets often don’t. Loud thunder, lightning, and sudden pressure changes can cause fear and anxiety for many animals.

Here are a few quick ways to help keep your pets safe and calm:

🐶 Bring pets indoors before the storm begins
🏠 Create a safe, quiet space where they feel secure
🎧 Use calming sounds like TV, music, or white noise to soften thunder
🪪 Check ID tags & microchips in case a frightened pet escapes
🚪 Keep doors, gates, and windows secure

If your pet is especially anxious during storms, staying close and offering reassurance can make a big difference.

Want to be a part of Rescue Rally?

We are currently welcoming vendors, event sponsors, charity raffle item donations and volunteers!

Vendors - No vendor fees! We do suggest a $10 donation which will benefit our participating rescues. Animal related or not, we are looking for a total of 20-30 vendors to join us and sell/promote their crafts, products or services!

Event Sponsors - Sponsorship amounts benefit each of our participating animal rescues, as well as Rescue and Recover so that we are able to help non-participating rescues. These funds help the rescues tremendously as they are currently in the middle of puppyu mill surrender season.

Charity Raffle Item Donations - Does not need to be animal related. All proceeds from our charity raffle are evenly distributed among the participating rescues and Rescue and Recover so that we are able to help non-participating rescues.

Volunteers - Our volunteers are the primary force behind the success of our Rescue Rally events. Our "rufferees" are responsible for a variety of tasks including running our booth/merch sales, pup cup station, charity raffle, assisting with participating rescues and more.
