Emus are large, flightless birds native to Australia, known as the continent's tallest bird and the world's second-largest bird after the ostrich. They have long necks and legs, can run up to 30 mph, and have soft, shaggy brown feathers, small wings, and three toes. Emus are omnivores, play a key role in seed dispersal, and the males incubate the eggs and raise the chicks.
Key Characteristics
Size: Up to 6.2 feet (1.9 meters) tall and can weigh up to 120 pounds, making them the second-largest bird.
