Despite the rain showers this morning, some students from Unity Christian Schools came out to help us plant 42 new trees in the public right-of-way on 2nd Ave S between 4th St and Bluff Blvd. All of our plantings in 2026 were done with the help of these students, and we couldn't be more grateful! 🫶

Citizens of Clinton and surrounding communities are invited to remember the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, with a commemorative service on Friday, September 11, at 9:00 a.m. at the Freedom Trees Site at Millcreek Parkway and Main Avenue in Clinton.

Hosted by Clinton Trees Forever, The Lighthouse Schools, Clinton Police Department, Clinton Fire Department, Camanche Fire Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, and the City of Clinton, the event will honor those who lost their lives and reflect on the enduring strength and resilience of our nation.

The program will include performances by the River City Municipal Band and the Clinton High School A Ca****la Choir, a special flyover, flag raising, traditional bell ceremony, and a 21-gun salute by AMVETS Post 28. Prince of Peace 3rd-5th grade students will also be present to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

Local first responders Sheriff Bill Greenwalt, Fire Chief Mike McQuistion, and Deputy Chief of Police James Ballauer will serve as keynote speakers, sharing reflections on remembrance, resilience, and the lessons of September 11.

The ceremony will conclude with prayer and a bagpipe procession by Derek Grant, Quad City Piper.

The event is free and open to all. Parking is available at Eagle Heights Elementary School (1350 Main Ave) and Community Health Care (1320 19th Avenue NW), with shuttle service provided by the Clinton MTA. Handicap parking is available by entering Millcreek Parkway from 19th Ave NW. Seating is limited, so attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.

Remembering 9/11 | 25 Years

Twenty-five years later, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage of first responders, the compassion of those who reached out to help, and the resilience of communities that came together in the days that followed.

May we never forget those we lost. May we continue to choose peace over fear, compassion over division, and love over hate.
