The CLNTA was awarded with the USTA Southern Fall Fest Grant which was held on November 12, 2922. We chose to partner with the Laurens County Humane Society in Clinton to help raise funds for their nonprofit organization and for ours.
It gave us an opportunity to help out our local animal adoption center, increased our communities awareness of our existence, introduced the kids to the joy of tennis. We had to be creative: used a portable net on their gravel parking lot. Our instructors (Lynne Todd, the LHS girls and boys tennis teams coach, and her outstanding tennis assistants: Kenzie Long and Maya Ramirez) taught them eye hand coordination drills and games. When the kids learned how to tennis tap a ball,, then they could advance to the fenced in yard where the dogs were waiting to play where they could tap used tennis balls to them. They loved that! ("They " meaning both the kids and the dogs!) Many parents and supporters donated either money and/or items from the Laurens County Humane Society's wish list. (Their wishlist is on their website. Please donate!) We also had a face painter (Kayci Aylesworth) (I got mine done!) and a licensed massage therapist Hollie Mitchell) for 5 minute chair massages for the adults waiting around. The kids left with a certificate and a tennis booklet, compliments of Lynne, and a new can of tennis balls, along with many wonderful memories. Oh, and a beautiful all white kitten ended up being adopted from Kenzie! It was the most fun I've had in all the fundraisers I've done! Thanks to the USTA Southern for providing this opportunity!! We would like to thank all who participated, helped behind the scenes, instructed, donated. The Clinton-Laurens-Newberry Tennis Association is partnering with the Laurens County Humane Society for their fundraiser during the USTA Southern Fall Tennis Fest on November 12, 2022, Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Humane Society’s adoption center on 793 Poplar St, Clinton SC 29325. The Center will showcase their animals and provide adoption information. There will be activities for the children who will be participating in the morning tennis event. For the parents and adult friends, chair massages by Hollie Mitchell, a Licensed Massage LLC. Face painting will also be available for the children. Lynne Todd, the Laurens High School girls’ and boys’ tennis coach will lead the tennis programs. Kenzie Long, an advanced junior and 3 times All Region high school player, will assist. The tennis programs will give the youth, who have never played tennis before, a chance to learn basic tennis skills. Tennis racquets will be provided. Refreshments will also be provided to the registered participants. Carlos Flores of WYFF News 4 will be covering this event.

Please register by 11/10, Thursday, so that we will know how many to expect.
