That’s a wrap on the 3rd Annual Summer Sandlot Series! 🥎
Another great summer of getting girls on the field, playing ball, competing and having fun.
A huge thank you to the two who helped make it happen all summer — Gracen and Gretchen Grimm.
These two had already given a lot to softball in Clinton. When Clinton Comets Softball needed a pitcher and catcher in 2024, they stepped into completely new positions, put in the work, and helped keep Clinton softball moving forward. The result - Gracen finished with over 400 career strikeouts and a career batting average of .517. Gracen is now a sophomore at Clarkson, and Gretchen is a sophomore at SUNY Oneonta.
This summer, they gave back again.
Gracen and Gretchen were our lead Sandlot coaches, working with our girls week after week and giving the next generation of CNY softball players two great role models to look up to.
A big thank you as well to our supporting coaches Lizzy Synakowski (MVCC), Isabella Matos (HCCC) and Carley Robinson (MVCC) — and to MVCC Softball Head Coach Brittnee, Sister and Shannon Cool for their continued support, guidance and good vibes!
Earlier this spring, Clinton Youth Softball welcomed more than 40 girls, and this summer Sandlot expanded to three groups — 8U, 10U and 13U — with more than 75 girls participating.
Thank you to our lead sponsors Clinton Tractor and Implement Co. Big Apple Music and to the Clinton Youth Softball Board of Directors, coaches and volunteers who do so much behind the scenes.
And a special shoutout to our third-year Sandlot girls from New Hartford — Natalie LaLonde, Lauren Prichard, Cara Luley, Molly McElhinney and Sophia Winegard.
These girls have been with us since the beginning. Their experience and level of play helped raise the bar this summer, but even more importantly, they helped pass along what Sandlot is all about to the younger girls coming up behind them.
Thanks for showing up for a third summer and helping build the tradition.
