A Member Spotlight Worth Reading

We are proud to share an article from the December issue of America Magazine written by our own Susan Ferraro Smith, a long-time member and a past president (2014-2016) of the Christ Child Society of Cleveland.

While on pilgrimage to Rome during this Jubilee Year of Hope, Susan was deeply moved by her experience of passing through the holy doors. In her reflection, she beautifully connects those moments with the meaning and impact of her service, including her time volunteering in our Uniforms Program. So much of what she shares speaks to faith in action and the grace of serving others. The article is particularly meaningful to read during the Christmas season.

On a pilgrimage to Rome during this Jubilee Year of Hope, the experience of walking through holy doors transformed my thinking about doors in general. I began to focus less on their physicality and more on their purpose as a passage to a place beyond.

These prayer warriors gathered at the office this week to pray the rosary for all our members and their families.

After wrapping up the festive morning at Saint Alyosuis many of our new members continued the holiday spirit with a joyful lunch gathering at Southside in Tremont. It was a lovely way to unwind, share stories from the day, and enjoy time together.

December 3rd was a truly magical day at Saint Aloysius School!

The Provisional Class of 2025 brought the spirit of the season to life with cheerful crafts, playful games, joyful songs, heartwarming stories, and of course a very special visit from Santa Claus himself. All 19 of our newest members were in attendance, making the event feel especially bright.

The celebration welcomed pre-K through second grade, with approximately 88 excited children taking part in the holiday fun. The halls were filled with smiling faces and the wide-eyed wonder that only children can bring to the holiday season. The students were so appreciative, greeting every activity—and Santa—with pure delight.

We were wonderfully supported by the principal and four outstanding eighth-grade boys who helped with setup and stayed ready to assist. Their help made the day run beautifully.

After the festivities, many of us celebrated the wonderful day at Southside in Tremont for a delicious and well-earned lunch together.

What a wonderful night at the West Side Catholic Centers Trunk or Treat! 🎃 The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for a fun filled evening of crafts, pizza, popcorn, candy, and smiles all around. 🍕🍿🍬 We handed out cozy winter hats and gloves donated from Christ Child Society’s Winter WarmUp Collection for Children to keep everyone warm this season. The kids showed off so many creative and fun costumes! The kids loved it — and so did we! 💛✨

What a tremendous day! 🙌
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who showed up and gave their time and energy Tuesday.

Together, we:
✅ Packed 750 hygiene kits
✅ Restocked two pallets of supplies
✅ Loaded and delivered to two schools
✅ Prepped a delivery for a third school

That’s a productive meeting! 💪
Let’s continue to pray for every child who receives one of these kits — that each one brings hope, dignity, and a little light into their day. 💙✨

Last Wednesday 75 members of the Christ Child Society of Cleveland gathered at the Oak Grove Pavilion in the beautiful Metroparks for our 4th Annual Fellowship Picnic — and what a perfect fall day it was!

With crisp autumn air, colorful leaves, and plenty of sunshine, the setting was ideal for a day filled with fellowship, camaraderie, and community spirit. It was wonderful to reconnect, share stories, and enjoy the special bond we all share through our mission of service and love.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped plan and participate in this special event. Your presence made it meaningful, memorable, and truly joyful!

Our Community Beds project distributed 50 beds, 2 cribs, mattresses, sets of linens & books on Saturday, September 27, to needy families whose children attend Preps Woodland Hills Campus School.

Saint Joseph Academy's freshman students received a special orientation on Tuesday, as three Board members of the Christ Child Society introduced them to our mission and programs. The highlight is an opportunity for service through our CCS Junior Service Program, where the young women can volunteer at the Showcase Stores.
