Now accepting nominations for possible candidates for the SPE Board of Directors election for the 2027 - 2031 term of office. We invite recommendations of individuals with unique perspectives, skill sets, and lived experience.

Skills useful to the organization include experience in leadership, administration, fundraising, finance, marketing and communication, event coordination, work on other nonprofit boards, not-for-profit governance, and experience in SPE leadership roles with caucuses, chapters, conference committees, and conference operations. Grant-writing, website design, and social media strategy skillsets would be particularly helpful at this time as well.

Board members are elected for four-year terms and elections are held each fall.

Recommendations must be made by current SPE members.
Deadline to submit nominations: May 15, 2026

Meet your caucus leaders! Ahead of this year’s conference, we’re excited to introduce the leaders who help foster connection, advocacy, and community across SPE.

"Lisette Bourne is a Southern California native but has lived all over the state. As both a student at an international boarding school in the Midwest, as well as a foreign exchange student in Japan, she grew to love photography at the early age of sixteen. She's passionate about the education of her photography students and has been a visual arts educator for 24 years. Lisette's lens-based artwork can be viewed in various galleries throughout Southern California.

I've known about SPE for several years and never joined until last March! I became part of the Contingent Faculty Board as Lead Liaison in October 2025 and I attended my first conference, SPE West in November 2025. As of 1/1/2026, I was voted onto the SPE West Board as Treasurer. It's been a whirlwind and I look forward to fortifying the West chapter with new memberships and activities and also look forward to planning the next conference with the rest of the West Board."

We’re excited to spotlight Lisette and the important leadership they bring to SPE.

Meet Lisette and other contingent faculty caucus members at the contingent faculty caucus Meeting on Friday, March 20 @10:00AM to 11:00AM.
