As we prepare to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. tomorrow, we reflect on one of his powerful truths: “Not everyone can be famous but everyone can be great because greatness is determined by service.”
In this clip, student Ki partners with three-time Coretta Scott King Award-winning author Angela Johnson in a remarkable act of service. When Angela struggles to recall details of her celebrated career, Ki steps in, reading her books alongside her and helping fill in the gaps.
But the service flows both ways. Angela shares her life’s wisdom and experiences, mentoring Ki as they work together. This connection exemplifies Dr. King’s vision—two individuals, from different generations, serving each other and building a better future through understanding and compassion.
This partnership shows that service isn’t just an action; it’s a connection that uplifts everyone involved.
