Writings by Craig A. Webb

Writings by Craig A. Webb Craig A. Webb is a local self published author, who writes comedy, satire and horror in stage plays, screenplays and novels about Cleveland. Z.

Webb has a BA in theatre & communication from Cleveland State University. He performed, directed and designed for many different local theatres and venues, helped found B.I.T.E. (The Bezerko Improvisational Theatre Ensemble) and toured with The New Shakespeare Company of San Francisco and two Circuses. He also spent over thirty years working on highways in and around Cleveland Ohio. Until his firs

t novel, VAROOM: The Passion of E. Cash he had only published two previous pieces, an essay entitled Lake Effect in CSU's Whiskey Island Quarterly and a "first ride" story for City Bike Magazine of San Francisco, California. However, he has authored over a dozen stage plays, two screenplays and a series of twenty-two radio plays for WCSB's Praise the Ford satiric comedy program. It was this series of radio scripts that formed the basis for most of the storyline and characters in VAROOM. The novel started life as a NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) challenge that stretched into several years and numerous six-month sessions of The Cuyahoga County Public Library's writer's workshops. The illustrations were created by the author, four young CSU students, Lora Mosier the photographer, and Ken Schworm creating digital enhancements. After VAROOM the author began a series of short, metaphysical horror stories set in and around familiar Cleveland locations. Not surprisingly, the first story revisits the author's first published work set at Edgewater Park, and is also entitled LAKE EFFECT. Other stories in the collection feature the West Side Market, the Terminal Tower, the Art Museum and other iconic Cleveland landmarks. THE SHADOW OVER CLEVELAND: Thirteen Lovecrafted Tales will be available soon - possibly at the same locations featured in these stories. Next he plans a series of three zombie novels based on his first screenplay, DOCTOR DEATH. What he writes after that is uncertain, but he hopes to be spinning tales of Ohio, Cleveland, and their unique characters for a long time to come.
