💚Let’s show off Northeast Ohio’s wild side!

Here’s how to join the fun:

1. Download the iNaturalist app (it’s free!)

2. Create an account (super quick — promise!)

3. Get outside — your backyard, a park, a sidewalk… anywhere!

4. Snap photos of wild plants, animals, and fungi you see.

5. Upload your photos to iNaturalist and add them to the City Nature Challenge project for your area!

Every observation helps scientists, conservation efforts, and biodiversity research — and it’s a blast!

You have until April 28th to explore, snap, and share!

It’s easy, fun, and wildly rewarding!

- Step Outside – Your backyard, local park, or city street… anywhere counts!

- Observe Nature – Plants, bugs, birds, mushrooms, animal tracks—anything wild!

- Take Photos – Snap clear pics of what you see.

- Upload to iNaturalist – Use the free app or website and add your observations to the Greater Akron project.

That’s it! Every photo you share helps scientists learn more about our local biodiversity—and puts Northeast Ohio on the global nature map.

🪶 Have you ever seen a Ruby-crowned Kinglet? This tiny bird is one of spring’s amazing treasures here in Northeast Ohio.

🤏🏽Weighing less than a quarter, it flits through branches with incredible energy—pausing only for a blink before darting off again. If you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the male's hidden ruby ⭕ crown, especially during spring migration when they're on the move.

🗺️ Right now, these little birds are traveling thousands of miles from their wintering grounds in the south to northern forests where they’ll raise their young. Their journey reminds us how much life is always in motion—even in our own backyards.

🥾 Join us for the City Nature Challenge, April 25–28, and keep your eyes (and ears) open for the Ruby-crowned Kinglet and other migrating birds.
