Cleveland Snowhawks Trails are CLOSED!
3/13/2026 Trail report

Regardless of the amount of snow, we receive this weekend. All Cleveland Snowhawks snowmobile trails will remain closed.
The frost is out of the ground. There’s standing water and mud in the plowed fields and creeks and swamps have opened up.
With the high winds, most likely there’s trees down in the woods.
Riding on any of these closed trails is trespassing and subject to fines. Please respect the landowners and stay off!
Thank you!!!

Even when we receive snow, trails may not be safe yet due to unfrozen ground, wet areas, and open water. Proper preparation helps protect the trails, landowners, and riders.

Before Trails Can Open, We Need:
Ground fully frozen
Safe ice and no open water hazards
Adequate snow coverage
Trails cleared of branches and debris
Trails packed and groomed

These steps help ensure safe riding for everyone and prevent damage to private land that makes our trail system possible.

There’s still snow in our northern counties! If you’re out and about on the trails, we’d love to hear from you! Let us know where you are, share a pic and ride safe!

Far northern counties continue to hold on. Tuesday night, many of these areas received a few inches of wet snow. A few more are forecast for tonight into tomorrow…

We see a more reasonable dip in temperatures over the weekend, with signs of another possible warming trend ahead…

Make the best with what we have with hopes of cooler temps… and a big dumping that could push this, so far epic season for the north, into March!!! Or finally get the entire state involved… 🤞❄️

Here’s a little history for ya!

Are you thinking about heading north this weekend with your sleds?! Check your trail conditions here!

This week has been very similar to last week. A slight warm up, light rain, freezing rain… The temps dropped overnight though… 🥶❄️

With the next deep freeze on the horizon. There has been a small amount of dustings, and moderate snow. Another “significant” couple inches is forecast Thursday through Friday. 🤞❄️

There is still ample snow in the northwoods. The closer you get to Hurley, the more there is. With the warm weather and the freeze up. Many trails went from soft and slushy, to icy and solid. Scratchers may be necessary, more so as you move south. Flat and fast until your sled overheats… 😐❄️

If we actually get the forecasted snow. These open, northern trails will be great once again! The 10 day temps say it won’t be melting soon…

BTW: Langlade County has reopened Section A

Snowmobilers: remember to be aware of unsafe ice and stay sober on the trails this season.

Ice conditions can be unpredictable with fluctuating temperatures, and the DNR urges snowmobilers to be extra careful when driving on ice. No ice is ever completely safe.

The DNR does not monitor ice conditions, but they are monitored locally. Local fishing clubs, outfitters and bait shops are the best sources for local current ice conditions.

Here are more safety tips:
– Remember that ice is never completely safe under any conditions.
– Never consume alcohol or drugs before or during your ride.
– Wear proper clothing and equipment, including a life jacket or float coat, should you fall through the ice and to help retain body heat.
– Do not travel in unfamiliar areas.
– Slow down when traveling at night.
– Know if the lake has inlets, outlets or narrows that have currents that can thin the ice.
– Watch for pressure ridges or ice buckling. These can be dangerous due to thin ice and open water.
