What an amazing first day of - seeing friends from around the region and meeting new friends from around the country! It was amazing to see Case Western Reserve University President Eric Kaler recognized for the A grade CWRU earned this year on our campus report card. The content experts and the people on the ground doing the work each day continue to inspire us to fight hate for good.

🚨 NEW: ADL releases groundbreaking AI Index evaluating how AI models handle antisemitism & extremism

Dr. Kelly Fishman, ADL Ohio River Valley Regional Director, breaks down the first-ever comprehensive study of how AI responds to hate:

🔍 6 major AI models tested (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Llama, Deepseek)
📊 2,500+ conversations analyzed across 37 categories
⚠️ Key finding: AI better at detecting anti-Jewish tropes than anti-Zionist & extremist content
🏆 Claude scored highest overall, but ALL models showed significant gaps in detecting bias and extremism

The bottom line? As billions use AI daily, we need stronger safeguards and smart regulation to prevent these tools from spreading hate.

"AI is a tool that can be used to fight hate, or it can be used to spread it...Instead of saying let's get rid of AI, we need to ask how we create regulations that make it safe," Fishman emphasizes.

“This is the season when people of all faiths and cultures are pushing back against the planetary darkness. We string bulbs, ignite bonfires, and light candles. And we sing.”

Grateful for Miami University's immediate and unequivocal condemnation of the antisemitic and racist graffiti recently found in residence halls. Thank you to the administration and Dean of Students for taking swift action, prioritizing student safety, and making it clear that hate has no place on campus.

A heartfelt thank you to Hillel: Miami University and Chabad at Miami University for your unwavering support of Jewish students during this difficult time. Your message of resilience and community—reminding students they are not victims but valued members of a loving family—is exactly what's needed right now.

As we head into the holiday season and finals, let's continue to stand together against hate in all its forms. If you see something, say something. Together, we build safe and accepting communities.

Help us Fight Hate for Good

ADL was founded as the Anti-Defamation League in 1913 to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all. Today, ADL is the largest anti-hate organization in the country. Locally, the Cleveland Regional Office, which serves Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Western Pennsylvania reports instances of bias and hate, supports the victims of discrimination, provides anti-bias education to educators, parents, students and law enforcement officials, advocates for the civil rights of all groups, and promotes public policy as it relates to hate crimes, bullying, and immigration. ADL works to strengthen inter-faith and inter-group relations in our mutual fight against hate. ADL is the first non-governmental team on the ground when a crisis or hate crime occurs, supporting the victims and working closely with local law enforcement officers and leaders to protect marginalized communities. Help us Fight Hate for Good!
