What can we do to help all of you see that we must come together and push against this right now?

Can you see what direction this is going in? It's not good!

1. They put on hold the little minimum staffing that would have been a start and hope.
2. They put on hold nursing homes disclosing ownership, and now you can't see that in AND OUTSIDE OF STATE investors are in charge of whether your loved one gets care or they get profits over care. We see what it is already!
3. They are telling us that Facilities can choose your hospice provider without doing a one on one contract that they were given the ability to do or force you to move at a bad time!
4. Now they are disrespecting those who take care of family members by not giving them any compensation? Do they not realize how hard is to work when you have to take care of medical and everything for a family member. Do they really think we can just quit our jobs to take care of someone that saves them tons of money! It's not that we are sititng on a couch relaxing with our family members, we are usually the only ones that will take them to the doctors, hospitals. medical procedures, get & shop for their meds, shop for them, clean, do laundry.....AND NOW OUR POLICYMAKERS ARE MAKING A JOKE OUT OF SAYING WE ARE TAKING MONEY FOR DOING NOTHING! OUTRAGEOUS!! We try to get the help available, but it's not there, so many lose their ability to hold a job over this!
5. And they are targeting families through their fraud efforts and individuals working home care, but they refuse to do look at any possible fraud in nursing homes!!

AND MOST IMPORTANT.....They are trying to take back the little things that worked in Esther's Law and maybe even change the name. This is so out of control...When will you see it and help, we can't do it alone!

These problems are huge, and we need everyone's help: volunteering only 2 hours a month and donating every month, even $5 or whatever you can, so we can sustain this organization that is needed more and more every day. We are not only quickly losing the battle for decent health care as we age, but what little that works is being taken away!!!

Ohio Department of Health

Amid allegations of fraud in Ohio’s home healthcare system, Republican state lawmakers are considering banning Medicaid payments to family members caring for their loved ones.

This morning we watched Dr. Oz's announcement on television, in which he is in Columbus today with many other members of the Federal Fraud Task Forces. It was stated that at 1:00 pm today (6/4/26), our state officials will provide an update on these investigations. We are not clear where to watch or view this information at this time.

We appreciate these efforts for Ohio. There are issues with bad actors in home healthcare who fail to provide the services they are paid for. Paula saw this personally when her uncle had home health care.

Where we are failing is in excluding deep investigations in long-term care services in facilties. Another big piece we are missing is an investigation into whether services are actually provided by long-term care facilities. Focus on whether services were provided at all, starting with podiatrist services. They claim the toenails were cut, but it doesn’t appear they have been cut in a very long time. People in Ohio are upset that care is not being provided; however, payments are not being reduced. Residents' assets will be recovered later, even though they did not receive the services

The trend has been to go after individuals, but that sends a message to long-term care that they are safe. We have seen facilities convicted of Medicare/Medicaid fraud, and they are still in business. Why are these proven bad actors, who have fraudulently billed in the past, allowed another chance not to get caught? Focus investigations on facilities, not just individuals.

Major announcement:

Steve Piskor and Elderly Advocates are partnering to tackle the challenges families face when installing and maintaining cameras in residents' rooms in long-term care.

Steve is a knowledgeable advocate on long-term care issues and secured the passage of Esther's Law, named for his mother. He has advocated for 25 years and persevered to establish Ohio's camera law.

Steve now pushes for a federal camera law to cover all states. Like Elderly Advocates, he works directly with families and files complaints to enforce camera rights. Find more about his efforts on his page, Elderly Nursing Home Abuse Advocates (ENHAA).

We will combine our expertise, experience, media connections. contacts, and combine advocacy efforts with policymakers and others to provide education, advocacy, and direct support.

As far as we know, we are the only two Ohio advocates working directly with families and aligned in our missions to provide immediate help for residents and their family caregivers in Ohio.

Steve and Elderly Advocates are deeply committed to achieving positive, meaningful change for residents now. Both believe immediate help is essential.

Together, we are all better and can accomplish more.

This is a email we sent to @senatorIngram. They are trying to revise the wording on Esthers Law so that it will give the facility control over the installation, service, and control of the camera. This will take out most of what made this law good.

Steve Piskor asks that you email both senators and oppose these amendments that are currently being added to the bill.

You can email Senator Huffman at [email protected] and Senator Ingram at [email protected]

Let them know that you oppose these amendments on Senate Bill 154. There is no reason to walk back the small proactive steps there are in engaging a camera.

So true, we always come up with many solutions because that is how we think in EA, how can we fix this, and we don't easily accept there is nothing that can be done. As long as we are alive, anything can be done!

Winners don't waste time complaining about obstacles—they look for ways around them.

Anyone can focus on problems. Anyone can point out what's wrong, what's unfair, or what's difficult. But successful people think differently. They train themselves to focus on possibilities, opportunities, and solutions.

A winner understands that every challenge carries a lesson, every setback hides an opportunity, and every obstacle can be overcome with enough persistence and creativity.

When others see roadblocks, they see routes. When others make excuses, they make progress.

Your mindset shapes your reality. The moment you stop asking, "Why is this happening to me?" and start asking, "How can I solve this?" everything begins to change.

✨ Don't focus on what's standing in your way. Focus on finding a way through it.

Big changes don’t always come from massive actions.
Sometimes, the smallest steps are the ones that change your entire life over time.

A single workout.
One page read.
One new habit.
One difficult decision.
One day of not giving up.

Progress isn’t about moving fast — it’s about continuing to move forward, even when the steps feel small. Most people quit because they underestimate the power of consistency. But every small action compounds into something greater.

Don’t wait for the “perfect moment” to take giant leaps. Start with what you can do today. Small progress is still progress, and every step forward brings you closer to the life you want.

🚶 Small steps matter.
🔥 Consistency creates results.
💯 Keep moving forward.
