Sometimes you miss what is being discussed at the other end of the lunch table; in this case, Craig (N4CN) brought a home-built mini microphone. Craig enjoys working POTA (Parks on the Air) in various ways, such as hiking and bicycling to different remote areas. It is helpful when your equipment is light and durable.

Thus, he brought a tiny microphone that he built from a kit. I attached the link to the kit, which looks pretty simple to build.

We will have this and more at our upcoming field day on June 28, 2025, at the NoFO Brewery

What a great lunch!
Paul (W4DUI) always brings something fun to the lunch meeting; this was no exception. The info of the QMX+ 160-6m, 5W multi-mode transceiver is attached below. A few things I would have changed, first, the name should be something catchy, like the "Little Ham" or "Match Ham," like the "Match Box cars." Anyways, one issue is not to plug directly into a 12-volt battery. This little guy has to have either nine or 12 VDC, not 13.8 VDC like on a car battery. This is why Paul introduced the "Buck Power Converter Module," another stupid name. Paul finished making a case for the regulator from his 3D printer; a photo is enclosed.

We invite everyone to join us next Saturday at the Soda Fountain in Cleveland at Noon.

Cheers

There was not only "food for thought," but barbecued pork butt was also served for lunch. With over 25 participants, there were presentations from surface-mounted to remote POTA setups.
I find it interesting that within the HAM club, there are all the different types of hobbies, such as building radios, POTAS, EME, and LORA.
Thank you, Bob, for all you do for the Ham clubs in the N..E. Georgia area

Of course, another great lunch followed, with Craig bringing another kind of cool gizmo! Personally, on the promotion side, I would have named this little guy something better!

The (tr)uSDX is a 5-Band / Mulitmode QRP Transceiver in Pocket Format (90x60x30mm – 140g). It features a highly efficient Class E PA and Supports CW/LSB/USB and AM/FM. It covers by default 80/60/40/30/20m

We enjoyed the fantastic weather and food. Paul required a bib for the sub of course.

One of the advantages of coming to lunch is the educational aspect. Murry and I discussed the Tarheel antenna system (link below). Murry brought me a mini-unit that I may put on my Cirrus 820 Truck Camper. These antennas allow you to work HF mobile. In further research, grounding is critical for many reasons, including RF noise. I am now looking at copper tape for the top of my rig, since it is fiberglass.

Anyways nice lunch

We had a great lunch, and at our end of the table, Murray discussed his HF antenna (Tarheel) mounted on his truck, which made me consider mounting this on my truck camper.😳
