Today our mission brought past and future generations together for a tour of The Garfield home.

We had a tour guide detail the life and homestead of president Garfield. The immersive and in depth tour took us back in time when the then candidate campaigned from his porch. Hearing the family’s life story along with seeing their belongings and treasures connected us to the time when the Garfield family was thriving.

Thanks to everyone who came for this event!!! As a follow up to this historic event we’re doing a tour at Lake View Cemetery 10/25 at 1:30. Tickets are available on our website.

Good friends reform you.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of connecting with a lovely friend who has poured years into personal development—through education, practice, and advocacy. She is living proof of what it looks like to use your life to lift others.
She may not have realized the influence she has had on me.

Knowing I am actively working to grow awareness and participation in our mission, she introduced me to LinkedIn, brainstormed ideas with me, and invited me to a local networking event. She did it quietly—dropping small details, sparking curiosity, never making it feel like a lesson.

Lean into a new way. Try a different angle. Find people who lift you and help you move forward.

We are not meant to walk alone. Friends who align with you and sow seeds of growth can open doors you didn’t even know were there.

S.T.R.O.N.G. Lake county is opening up member spots!

Let’s work together to build a stronger fabric of community.

Become a member and help us make a larger impact in our community.

What does being a member mean? Members are the pathway to development!! Members come up with events to hold in the community, our board decides the order and executes the logistics of said events. Kids are empowered, community is fed and all involved walk away a little happier.

Warning: can cause lasting memories and has been known to make new friends.

Divine timing vs living on a schedule we try to push.

You plan to leave for the store at a certain time. The kids are on their own clock. Dinner is late. The job you wanted goes quiet. A door you were sure about stays shut. Traffic makes you miss the window you thought you needed. None of it feels holy. It just feels inconvenient.
That is often where His timing lives.

We want what we want when we want it. The human part of us writes the schedule, then delays or unscheduled events cause recourse. Turns out forcing a moment rarely makes it peaceful. Pushing kids out the door in a hurry doesn’t create harmony. Be wary of being contrite a life that isn’t yours doesn’t create purpose. It just adds weight.

Surrender is not giving up. It is opening your hands and your heart to what God actually wants, not only what you mapped out. It is letting Him shift the goal from “my plan on my timeline” to “use what You put in me for something larger than me.” That kind of yielding is freeing. You stop white-knuckling the clock and start trusting the One who already sees the road.

I learned that when I walked away from a life I was forcing that was never meant for me. The relief didn’t come because I suddenly knew the next move. It came because I knew, with certainty, that a brighter path was already there.

When you stop fighting His timing, life opens. Possibilities you couldn’t schedule appear. Strengths you overlooked get used. Ordinary days start carrying purpose you didn’t assign them.

Let go of the earthly timetable. Open your heart to what He wants. Trust that His timing is not late. It is preparing a life with more possibility, and a purpose bigger than the one you were trying to force.
