Health Improvement Partnership - Cuyahoga Health Improvement Partnership - Cuyahoga (HIP-Cuyahoga)

A group of people making Cuyahoga County a healthy place for all. Founded in 2010

HIP-C is a partnership of more than 50 organizations and residents from Cuyahoga County dedicated to understanding community perceptions of health and quality of life, while creating a community health improvement plan that will improve the lives of all people who live, work, learn, and play in Cuyahoga County. The process of creating this health improvement plan will involve the need for significant community input.

On March 1, federal changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, began.
These changes have impacted many community members who may now find greater barriers to access food.

Here’s a completely edible arrangement from our Communications Coordinator. There’s some really beautiful produce growing in Ohio right now: carrots, kale, sprouting broccoli, garlic scapes, tomatoes, grapes, nasturtiums, marigolds, and violas. Tomatoes and grapes aren’t typically harvested until much later in the summer, but some farms get them sooner with greenhouses.
Fun fact: all the flowers in this arrangement are edible! Nasturtiums taste peppery and go well on a salad. Marigolds taste citrusy and herby and are great in teas. Violas taste a bit like sweeter lettuce, and go well in salads or as a decoration for desserts and drinks.
You can purchase everything (except violas and marigolds) with SNAP/EBT. At participating farmers’ markets, get a $1 for $1 match to spend on more fruits and vegetables! Visit ProducePERKS.org/locations to find a participating market near you.
