FCM's Circle of Directors and Executive Director just returned from four days in Austin, TX for our annual retreat where we reflected on the past year, identified areas for growth, solidified our mission and purpose, and ate lots of queso. We are so thankful for our members who we know are dreaming up FCM's future alongside us.

The FCM Circle and ED are meeting in Austin for the annual board meeting. The city is filled with Waymo driverless cars, which many of us are taking for the first time. It was decided that instead of being driverless, we would let Jesus take the wheel. Sound on for the musical stylings of Zack. 😂

In spaces like FCM, which are dedicated to ministry, social justice, spiritual caregiving, and community building, our days are often overwhelmed by purpose. We spend so much of our days planning, speaking to congregants, counseling families, writing sermons, organizing locally.

Yet one of the most radical, restorative gifts we can offer ourselves and our communities is sacred play.

Play is joy. It's an act of creation. An expression of the Spirit working within us. It's also just fun!

Today, give yourself permission to do something simply because it brings a smile to your face. For me, that's crocheting. What about you?

Inhale: I am worthy of joy.
Exhale: I release the burden of constant purpose.

What is one small, delightful thing that brought you joy as a child and how can you invite a spark of that playfulness back into your week?

How many of us tend to become obsessed with perfection? We work so hard to have a perfectly polished final product that we often treat the process as just a necessary evil to rush through. But more often than not, the Spirit speaks to us IN the process, not in the perfection.

You don't have to be completely finished to be completely faithful. Let's breathe together!

Inhale: I am a work in progress.
Exhale: I release the rush to be complete.
