Ohio End of Life Options Medical Aid in Dying laws currently exists in New Jersey, Oregon, Washington, Vermont, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, New Mexico and Washington, DC.

Ohio End of Life Options is a nonprofit organization raising awareness and providing fact-based education about Medical Aid-in-Dying for the terminally ill in order to advocate for a law in Ohio. Ohio End of Life Options advocates for this option made possible through legislation; a law based on Oregon's Death with Dignity Act. It is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, nonsectarian organization. Ohio End of

Life Options also raises awareness about palliative and hospice care and believes the terminally ill should have access to all health care options at the end of life. Additionally, Ohioans are encouraged to explore end-of-life wishes, talk to those who need to understand them, and then document these plans. Our Mission: To advocate for passing a Medical Aid in Dying law for the terminally ill in Ohio. In order to do this, Ohio End of Life Options raises awareness and provides fact-based education about the aid in dying laws in 9 states and Washington D.C. Currently, Ohio does not have such a law. Our Vision: All Ohioans will have the knowledge and power to direct their own end-of-life care. The values, beliefs, and preferences that each person brings to these decisions will be protected by laws and rooted in equity.

Hello everyone,

For those who wanted to attend this presentation but were unable to, or for those who joined us live and would like to revisit the conversation, I’m pleased to share the recording of my presentation with Final Passages from May 21st.

This discussion was inspired by my experience at the bedside of people who have chosen Medical Aid in Dying (MAID). Over the years, I have had the privilege of supporting more than 325 individuals who chose this option, and the insights shared in this presentation come from those experiences.

While much of the information is based on California's End of Life Option Act, many of the principles of compassionate bedside support can apply wherever you live. Please keep in mind that I am sharing my personal observations and experiences, not legal or medical advice.

My hope is that this presentation offers information, comfort, and encouragement to those supporting someone at the end of life. Most of all, I hope it inspires people to show up at the bedside with compassion, presence, and an open heart.

Please feel free to watch, share, and pass this along to anyone who may find it helpful.

Thank you for being part of this important conversation.

Tom lives in southwest Ohio. He has a great life, and his cancer is stable. But that may not always be the case. All he asks for is the freedom to access Medical Aid in Dying as an additional end-of-life option.

If you are living with cancer, a neurologic/neurodegenerative disease, heart or lung disease, and want to show your support for access to Medical Aid in Dying in Ohio, please message us or send an email to [email protected]

The Labor Out Conference: Where Healthcare Meets Deathcare is a one-day conference bringing together healthcare professionals, death doulas, hospice workers, and deathcare leaders who believe end-of-life care should be more human.

Through powerful talks, panels, and workshops, this event bridges the gap between clinical care and compassionate support, offering real conversations, practical insight, and new ways to collaborate across disciplines.

If you work near death, dying, or serious illness and know there has to be a better way, this space was created for you. You'll be met with ways to connect with other practitioners and grow in this meaningful work.
