Healthcare and deathcare have spent far too much time working alongside each other without actually working together.

Healthcare professionals are caring for people with serious illness every day.

Death doulas are supporting many of those same people and families through the emotional, practical and human realities of dying.

Hospice and palliative care teams are doing critical work.

Home funeral advocates are helping families understand options they often never knew existed.

And yet, we rarely put all of these people in the same room.

So I decided to.

On October 28th in Cleveland, The Labor Out Conference is bringing healthcare and deathcare professionals together to have the conversations I believe end-of-life care desperately needs.

Not to decide who owns this work.

Not to replace one another.

To understand what each of us brings to the table and what becomes possible when we stop working in silos and start working together.

We’ll be talking about palliative care, hospice, death doula integration, home funerals, medical aid in dying, decision-making, holistic support and what a more collaborative approach to end-of-life care could actually look like.

Because death is inevitable.

How we approach it matters.

If you work anywhere near serious illness, dying, caregiving or deathcare, you belong in this room.
