Seeking a Part-Time Carpentry Instructor
Creative Builders Trades Academy is seeking an instructor to teach pre-apprenticeship carpentry and occasional skill advancement classes. The position is part-time. A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field working in a variety of carpentry trade areas is preferred, along with some supervision experience.
Sessions will be held primarily at the Hough Multi-Purpose Center location (8555 Hough Ave., Cleveland Oh 44106) but sessions are also held at various worksites based upon demand.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Adequately prepare for each class.
-Understand and implement the curriculum being taught.
-Work with administration staff and director to make sure all supplies, tools, and curriculum are ordered for classes.
-Assist with the control and monitoring of all inventory/tools/equipment used as a part of teaching classes.
-Implement adult learning principles in the classroom.
-Assign grades and fill out progress reports for students. Submit forms to the administration for mailing.
-Mentoring and guiding students through training and the process of becoming an entry-level worker while taking classes at the training center.
QUALIFICATIONS FROM JOB DESCRIPTION
-Be a team player and possess attributes of flexibility in aiding to meet the needs of the academy, contractors, and director when it relates to training needs.
-Have excellent verbal and written communication skills to professionally represent the organization.
-Competent with Microsoft Office Programs to include: Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Or Google Suite: Documents, Sheets, Slides. Ability to navigate the Internet.
-Have strong and proven organizational skills.
-Strong understanding of adult learning principles.
-Strong organizational skills and time management.
-Have a strong working knowledge of construction principals to include topics taught in the Carpentry pre-apprenticeship program. These skills will include worksite safety, framing, installation of doors, locks, windows, flooring, and drywall, and knowledge of industry standards, learned basic trade techniques, and how to correctly operate hand and power tools.
-Demonstrate a passion for teaching, mentoring and passing on the carpentry trade to others.
-Teaching and/or training experience is helpful.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
-High school diploma or equivalent.
-Completion of a Carpenter Apprenticeship program or industry related training (preferred but not required).
-A willingness to train with the chosen curriculum.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position may require standing and sitting for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Travel throughout Cleveland may be required.
