Dragonfly Supporters:

Something awesome has happened—a matching program up to $1,000! Would you like to help Dragonfly Global Cooperative accomplish this amazing match? Donate to Match: https://dragonflycoop.org/donate/

An organization called Modern Woodmen of America has offered us a matching program. Modern Woodmen of America is a member-owned fraternal financial services organization that also offers a special Matching Fund Program. (www.modernwoodmen.org)

Things have been developing well in 2023 at KEIFO School. Currently, our goal is to raise enough money to purchase a generator for the school. Adding a generator to the school would offer the opportunity to enhance safety, expand access to educational resources, and make evening study a possibility.

We would like to use this opportunity for the Modern Woodmen’s matching program to purchase a generator. Please consider donating towards this spectacular matching program, so we can install a generator and continue our progress

Help us renew our scholarship awards for 2023...In 2022, Dragonfly Global Cooperative awarded 7 scholarships to support girls graduating from high school at KEIFO school in Mbeya, Tanzania.

This awesome number was achieved through generous donations from coffee, and many individuals.

In 2022, I became certified to teach English as a Second Language. I started working in July, and I used my teaching earnings to fund scholarships as well. My earnings were $6,400.

I have already committed to donating my 2023 earnings as well. Help me reach the goal of 7 scholarships again for 2023 by matching me.

In Tanzania, a young woman has a 15% chance of graduating high school. The #1 barrier to completing school is r**e; #2 is the inability to get to school due to lack of transportation. Our scholarships allow the girls to board at school where they are safe, and they can complete their education.

Any efforts to help women in sub-Saharan Africa improve their education and understanding of family planning also helps climate change. Project Drawdown states, “…substantially increase funding and resources for reproductive health care, including voluntary family planning, and universal access to quality education for all. It is critical to center human rights, full bodily autonomy, and gender equality, and recognize that benefits to the planet are positive ripple effects of access and agency. Fostering equality through this solution could reduce carbon dioxide equivalent emissions by nearly 70 gigatons between 2020 and 2050.”

Thank you for any amount you can comfortably donate—everything makes a difference for each girl we help, and for the health of our world!

Congratulations to Miriam!

The school year in Tanzania runs on a calendar year. The students have their final national exams in November. The student Dragonfly Sponsors, Miriam, has worked diligently, and determinedly throughout the year to pass her exams. She has just received word she has passed her Form 4 and gets to advance to Form 5!

Dragonfly Global Cooperative believes many people doing tiny things can together change the world. Helping one girl continue her education is a small thing in the scheme of the world, and a huge thing for Miriam. Consider helping us sponsor her for another year—even if it is in a tiny way. We only need to raise $750 US to be able to help her for another year. Click here to donate: dragonflycoop.org/donate/

I started Dragonfly Global Cooperative because I believe small acts of kindness cumulatively have a big impact on the world around us. Currently, Dragonfly is focused on helping girls achieve a high school education in Tanzania. In 2020, we were able to grant one 1-year high school scholarship. Our goal for 2021 is to grant 5 scholarships. While a high school education is accessible in the United States, there are myriad hurdles and frequent barriers infringing on the same accomplishment in other countries. Since founding Dragonfly, I have heard stories from Tanzania, Kenya, Nepal, and Haiti. I am inspired by Brett Weiss who started a similar journey several years ago with his Weiss Scholarship Foundation and has been able to grant over 70 full 4-year high school scholarships, with 24 high school graduates already. His cumulative small acts have resulted in a big impact to the good for the children and communities he helps.

Consider donating to Dragonfly Global Cooperative today to help us travel forward on the path the Weiss Foundation has so admirably forged. https://lnkd.in/ggk8_Xc

WHEN 5 TONS IS A SMALL ACT OF KINDNESS Starting in March 2020, my neighbors began collecting food to donate to the nearest Food Bank. Consistently, each week, they posted on Nextdoor when their truck bed would be open for a 24 hour, socially distant, donation period. Initially, it was a trickle.

Dragonfly Global Cooperative has awarded its first scholarship for the 2021 academic school year. Dragonfly partners with KEIFO School in Southern Tanzania to help girls attend and complete high school.

Congratulations to our recipient, Miriam. Sixteen-year-old Miriam is from Kasumulu, Tanzania, near the Malawi border. In her family, she also has four brothers and one sister. Miriam’s dad, Fredy, is a farmer and entrepreneur. Her mom, Happy, is a pastor at the Arise and Shine Ministry in Kasumulu. Because Kasumulu is too far to travel back and forth each day, Miriam is a boarding student at KEIFO Secondary School.

Miriam likes STEM classes in math, physics, chemistry, and biology. She aspires to be a doctor and is an excellent student. When she is not in school, she likes to read novels and play games.

Miriam is one of 11 girls who would not otherwise have been able to continue school without a scholarship. We are honored to assist her in continuing her education and aiming towards her dream of becoming a doctor.

A child in Tanzania has a 15% chance of graduating from high school. This percentage is even lower if you are a girl. In addition to cost, transportation is the most significant hurdle to continuing to attend school. A child might walk for multiple hours to attend school each day.

Dragonfly Global Cooperative promotes kindness and connectivity, amplifying ideas across communities through seemingly small acts that cumulatively have a big impact. Our current project is to help girls attend school in Tanzania.

While we were able to award one scholarship for the 2021 school year, our goal is to award five scholarships for the 2022 school year. Please consider helping us by donating. Any amount is appreciated, and if not, we are also always grateful if you are willing to share our story with your community.

In Northern Tanzania, we will be providing sports programming for the children of coffee farmers. In Southern Tanzania, we will we providing 5 full scholarships for girls to attend high school.

Our Tanzanian friend and musician, Alex Kajumulo, who grew up on a coffee farm, has recorded a song, Natureman Collection, celebrating the world-wide love and festival of coffee. The proceeds from this song will go towards helping Dragonfly’s Tanzania Project make a better life for children in Tanzania. Buy “Natureman Collection” by Alex Kajumulo at Bandcamp.com
