As a community service for senior citizens, the Cleveland Post Office offers access to mail services through the Post Office on Wheels program. The van provides standard services including stamps, money orders, package supplies, and letter / package mailing. Special services (certified, insured, priority, express, etc.) are also available.
The mobile unit stops at SCR every month; the next scheduled stops are: Thursday May 2 and Thursday June 5 around 10:30 a.m.

On Monday April 28 @ 1 p.m., we will continue our Poetry Workshop Series with Lauren. We will read a few poems that are related thematically, then brainstorm some ideas, and then from these ideas we will each write our own poem. Lauren’s goal is to show that poetry is accessible, joyful, and surprising. We hope you will join us each fourth Monday of the month!

In addition, in honor of National Poetry Month, we will be going to the at South Brooklyn branch of the Cleveland Public Library on Tuesday April 29 @ 10:15 a.m. for a poetry open mic! Feel free to share some of your own work, or a favorite poem written by someone else, or just enjoy listening to others share their love of poetry. National Poetry Month was first recognized in 1996 and celebrates poets’ integral role in our culture, and marking poetry’s important place in our lives.

Celebrate Earth Day with us on Tuesday April 22 @ 10 a.m. for some seed bombing! Seed bombing is a method of planting seeds by throwing or dropping balls of soil, compost, clay, and seeds. The clay / dirt protect the seeds from erosion and animals, and when it rains, the seeds will grow roots and sprout!

Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection, first observed in 1970. We hope you'll join us for some Earth Day fun!

• Develop a regular sleep schedule

The Ohio Department of Aging's “Golden Buckeye” program connects Ohio businesses with older adults (and people with disabilities). The businesses offer cardholders special savings, such as discounts, waived fees, free products or services, and more. In return, cardholders become loyal and faithful customers. It's a win-win for Ohio!
If you are over age 60, you can apply for a Golden Buckeye card at participating public libraries. Call ahead before you go to make sure they are open and have applications on-hand. You will need an Ohio Driver License or State of Ohio ID card to prove eligibility.
