Cleveland it’s that time again! Antioch Baptist Church invites to join us for our annual Black History film review. Panel discussion will take place at Antioch and via Zoom. This year we’ve chosen the film, Nickel Boys. This movie is based on the book by award-winning author Colson Whitehead. The story follows two African American boys, Elwood and Turner, who are sent to an abusive reform school in the 1960s Florida. The film is inspired by the notorious Dozier School for Boys, a now closed Florida reform school that was known far and wide for its abusive treatment and murder of the boys who were housed there. Nickel Boys is not playing at the Cinemark Valley View Theater and the Cedar-Lee Theater. The event is free, but registration is required. Go to antioch.orgto register.
