Unfortunately Sassy is having a hard time. From the meds and quick diet change for her bladder infection and stones she’s had diarrhea. Her vet is out for the week so I’m dealing with doctors that don’t know her case or me. Spoke to a vet yesterday and started her on something this morning for the diarrhea but while I was outside with her this morning I noticed she now has blood in her urine again (as of last week she still had bacteria but no blood). Back on the phone w the vet this morning. I scheduled a tentative surgery date for her just incase she needs surgery. That way we don’t have to wait. November 2nd. My Birthday. I’m off that day so it works. I’m waiting on a quote. Luckily Dr Woodley will be doing the surgery if she needs it. It’s been a week on the meds & food and obviously zero improvement since we now have blood again. I guess there are 3 kinds of bladder stones. 1 kind can dissolve, 2 can’t. We would need a stone to test to know what kind she has. I was hoping she had the dissolvable kind. I’m now thinking not. Send her all the good stuff, I’m not gonna lie. I’m worried.

Charlotte still needs her allergy shot and I’m considering taking Fraggle for an eye recheck and possibly an allergy shot as he is licking his feet and his eyes are running.

Here’s a picture of Sassy playing ball a month ago when she felt better. She’s a cutie. She was abandoned by her “owner” for having Addisions disease and “biting” the boyfriend over food. This dog doesn’t bite. You cannot hand her food. She grabs it out of your hands and will break the skin. My fingers have been bleeding when I’ve forgotten handing out treats to all the dogs. She’s not trying to bite, she’s just crazy over food/treats. It’s not her fault she has Addisions Disease. Maybe let’s stop backyard breeding and mixing breeds to create high priced mutts. She’s a Pomsky. Pomeranian/Husky. Because the dog world needs that mix … really?! And then they have health issues. And then they get dumped at the shelter and end up on the “list”.

She’s a good girl and deserves to be loved and have a family. Please donate for Sassy and all the Fido’s Hope dogs.

A few weeks ago fellow groomer and one of my very good friends, Jennifer Laschi Harmon texted me about one of her grooming clients needing to rehome her 3 dogs. 2 were little seniors. She was checking to see if I had any good homes looking for sweet older dogs. I told her I didn’t and I explained to her donations were down and my house is full. She totally understood and we talked about how sad these situations are for dogs, especially the older ones.

Fast forward to last week, the dogs were being surrendered to the shelter Friday. Jen reached out to me and we quickly figured out how to keep these dogs out of the shelter. I agreed to take them in under Fido’s Hope. Jen will be fostering and feeding the 2 little seniors and the younger dog was adopted by one of her groomers.

These dogs are little sweethearts. They are housebroken, crate trained, good with other dogs and people. up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. They will need dentals.

Meet Mia & Jeep. Mia is 12 years 8 months and Jeep is 9 years 3 months. Jeep is Mia’s son. We would love to keep them together but it is not required. They’ve already had a meet & greet and we currently have someone maybe interested in Mia.

Jen is doing a raffle at her grooming shop Pet Styles by Jennifer to help raise $ for their dentals. $5/ticket to win a $50 gift certificate. She also always hosts a Fido’s Hope Donation box in her lobby, if you’d like to stop by her shop Tuesday - Saturday and meet the pups and make a donation towards their dentals tat way.

Jen fostered for me for years when I had my previous rescue 11 years ago. Taking on some tough foster dogs and rehabilitating them both behaviorally and physically. She was one of the first people I called when I got FH up and running and has been helping behind the scenes whenever I call and she also hosted our fundraising dog wash last October.

$5 Fido Friday ❤️

This past week we unfortunately discovered Sassy has bladder stones. She is currently on 2 meds and script food, we are hoping they are the dissolvable kind. In a month she will need more X-rays. If they are not considerably smaller or gone she will have to have surgery. Charlotte needs her allergy shot too and I’m considering taking Fraggle for an eye recheck and possibly an allergy shot as he is licking his feet and his eyes are running non stop.

Our focus right now is going to be on getting a few dogs adopted hopefully by the end of the year, keep fundraising, hopefully be able to do a Christmas save and start 2027 strong. I’m hoping to do some events over the winter and get out into the community with these dogs. We will see. The only thing you can plan on with rescue is that nothing goes according to plan .. so I always keep that in mind. 🤪

Thank you Cortright family for the 2 Petsmart gift cards! I just picked up Sassy’s prescription food and a couple of cans of Eugene’s prescription food.

Today is Wishlist Wednesday. We currently need canned food and Chewy gift cards. I get Jill’s, Charlottes and Fraggle eye meds from Chewy pharmacy. I can also order script food from Chewy. Or I can get the script food from Petsmart too.
