August is Make A Will Month, which sounds about as fun as cleaning your gutters or scheduling a colonoscopy. 😮

But hear us out.

So far this year, PRFG has taken in 17 pugs because their owner passed away and no family member or friend was able, or willing, to take them.

Seventeen.

And this is not just something to think about when you are older. People can die unexpectedly at any age. None of us likes thinking about it, but your pets are counting on you to have a plan.

We love being here for these dogs, but we would much rather see every pug have a plan before they ever need us. 🐾

📝So while you are deciding who gets the house, the jewelry, or that one piece of furniture everyone secretly hates, please make a plan for your pets too.

- Who will care for them?
- Does that person know they are the person?
- Is there a backup person?
- Do they know your pug’s medications, veterinarian, food, routines and very specific opinions about bedtime?
- Have you made provisions for the cost of their care?

❗And one important note: putting something in your will is a great start, but make sure the people involved know the plan now. Your pug should not have to discover after you are gone that Cousin Susan was apparently supposed to take him.

If your dog was adopted from PRFG, there is one thing you never have to worry about: we will always take a PRFG dog back if their adopter passes away or can no longer care for them. Once a PRFG pug, always a PRFG pug.💙

🐶 Your pets are family. Make sure their future is part of your plan too.
Make A Will Month is a good excuse to finally do the paperwork none of us wants to do, for the little snoring reason sleeping next to you.

FIVE DOLLAR FRIDAY !! 🐾

What if everyone who follows us gave just $5 today?

Between Instagram and Facebook, that’s over 34,000 people. Just imagine what we could do together! ✨

Right now, your $5 can help us cover Jerry’s surgery and medical expenses. His brother Tom has the same spinal condition, and while we don’t know what his future holds, he may need additional medical intervention too.

And then there’s Willow, who we recently shared and who needs treatment for lymphoma. 💔

Your $5 doesn’t just help one pug. It helps give us the ability to say YES when the next pug needs us.

$5 may not feel like much, but when we all give a little, it becomes something HUGE.

Donate $5. Share this post. Tag a friend. 🐶

Let’s show Jerry, Tom, Willow, and all the pugs waiting for their chance that they’re not alone.

Every $5 helps us keep saying YES! 🐾

🐾Jerry may be the foster many of you have been following closely right now, but he is not the only PRFG dog facing a serious medical battle.

Behind the scenes, dogs like Willow are also receiving specialty care, treatment, and the chance for more good days.

MEET WILLOW. 💗

At just 4 years old, this sweet, shy puggle is experiencing a lot of “firsts” since coming into rescue.

She is learning to walk on a leash. Learning that meals can come from a bowl. Learning that routines can feel safe. Discovering crinkly toys, soft treats, broccoli, cucumbers, and apparently that apples are worthy of their very own puggle song.

❗️But then there was a first we didn’t see coming. During her intake vet exam, it was discovered that she had enlarged lymph nodes. Additional testing confirmed multicentric B-cell lymphoma.

What makes this especially important is that Willow had routine bloodwork done in January, and everything looked normal. Willow also didn’t look or act sick.

Her story is an important reminder that a lot can change in just a few months. Regular veterinary exams and routine bloodwork matter, even when your dog seems perfectly healthy.
Some conditions may not always be detected on standard blood panels and can develop or progress quickly.

Lymphoma is part of Willow’s story but
It doesn’t have to become her entire story.
While her oncology team handles the lymphoma, Willow has another assignment entirely: keep learning, keep gaining confidence, keep collecting firsts, and enjoy being spoiled by her foster family.

Tupug is 14½ years old, 16 pounds, and has reached the age where he knows exactly how he likes things.
And frankly, he sees no reason to start taking suggestions now. 😂

This opinionated little senior is ready for a Forever Care home through our Senior Pug Pals program, and we’re looking for a very specific kind of person to give him the retirement he deserves.

💙Here’s the wonderful part about Forever Care:

- Tupug remains a PRFG pug. Through our Senior Pug Pals program, PRFG coordinates and pays for his approved medical care.

- His Forever Care family provides the part we can’t prescribe or purchase: a safe home, a comfortable bed, patience, routine, and someone committed to him for however much time he has ahead.

🏠Tupug isn’t the pug for every household.
He doesn’t need every household.

He just needs one person to look at this quirky, stubborn, opinionated old gentleman and say, “Yep. You can retire with me.”

Preferably someone willing to let him believe he’s in charge. 😉

🥰Could you be Tupug’s person?

Good morning from Jerry! ☀️

Jerry is officially scheduled for a CT scan at the University of Florida on September 1!

The CT will give his surgical team the detailed imaging they need to begin the next phase of planning for his spinal surgery. After months of appointments, specialists, testing, and waiting for answers, Jerry is officially moving forward in the surgery process.

Operation Zoomies has currently raised…

🎉 $10,060 🎉

Our original goal was $12,000 and we are SO close! However, Jerry may need more than that. His CT scan alone will be another $2000. So keep supporting Jerry by donating or simply sharing his story! We are so grateful for all the love he’s been shown so far. 🐾

Apparently someone thought Operation: Zoomies was effective immediately. 🙄

His ball rolled away.

Jerry has filed a formal complaint.

With management.

Loudly.

Sir, the fundraiser has been live for like five minutes. 😂

🚀 Operation Zoomies continues.

We’re working on those zoomies, Jerry. We promise. 💙🐾
