We’re pleased to announce the launch of the MendoLake Market Access to Community Health (MATCH) program, created to help seniors and WIC families bring home more fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables from certified farmers markets in Lake and Mendocino counties.

Through MendoLake MATCH, WIC and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) cardholders can receive an additional $15 in incentive bucks to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables at the farmers market. To participate, shoppers simply show their WIC or SFMNP card to the market manager and receive the match at no cost, helping stretch their food dollars while improving access to healthy, local food. They do not need to spend their own WIC or SFMNP funds to be able to receive the match.

Are you a person that wants to help? Many seniors in our county arrive at a point in their lives when they must give up driving. Some can depend on family, friends, or caregivers. Others have no support at all and struggle to get their basic needs met. This is very common and some folks just give up. But there can be an answer. Volunteers with only a couple of hours available a week make a difference in the lives of more aging adults in our county.
