Who was the first "blonde" president?

Not many people would know the answer to this question. Why not? Because most people do not consider the natural pigment in someone's hair to be of any significance to a person's worth or capability. Why would anyone believe differently about the pigment in someone's skin?

We cannot be "blind" to the impact racism has had on our brothers and sisters with darker skin in the United States. But ultimately, collectively, we have to become as uninterested in skin color as we are in hair color. While we will never be "blind" to hair color, like we will never be "blind" to skin color, we have to get to the point where it just doesn't matter anymore.

A person's worth, capability, or character have nothing to do with the color of their skin. People...this isn't complicated.

We share the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

Let us know if you share that dream as well!

Most of our police officers work hard and do a good job of enforcing the law and keeping us safe. When mistakes are made, people have a right to be concerned about a lack of training and accountability...because mistakes in policing can be deadly. We support increased accountability, training, and the adoption of policies that lead to a reduction in deadly interactions. Talk to your local police department about adopting policies like you see on this chart, to keep everyone safe and improve police/community relations.

We appreciate our good police. We want bad police identified quickly and removed. We encourage all departments to adopt policies that will help our good police become even better.

Let us know your thoughts. Any ideas on how things can improve in your area?

Do you know who this is in the picture below? He might be the biggest name you've never heard when it comes to racism. His name is Johann Friedrich Blumenbach, a German anthropologist and he invented the idea of 5 different "races" of humans, classified with colors.. White (european), Black (african), Red (native american), Yellow (asian), and Brown (pacific islanders). He claimed that Caucasians were the "original" race from Adam and Eve. His theory was that other races came about by degeneration from environmental factors, but that in the proper environmental control, they could reverse this degeneration and return to looking like Caucasians.

You heard that right.

This kind of insanity, passed off as science, had huge influence on the racist ideologies of the United States and Germany in the early 19th century. The NFL's Washington "Redskins" give one example that his theories are still influencing us today.

The other picture tells the truth about humankind. The color code of humanity consists of different shades of brown, based on where our ancestors lived. If your ancestors lived in a warmer climate, you have darker brown skin. If your ancestors lived in a colder climate, you have lighter brown skin. That's it. We are ALL simply different shades of brown. No black, white, yellow, or red.

Maybe, some day, we will see each other according to the truth and not according to an old, misguided theory.

And here is the truth...we are all brothers and sisters, part of the same human race, in different shades of brown.

What are your thoughts? Had you ever heard of Johann Friedrich Blumenbach? Let us know in the comments below!

We can learn a lesson from the “less intelligent” animals around us. Cats don’t care about the color of another cats fur. When are humans going to stop caring about the color of another humans skin? Ignorance has led to the unnecessary suffering of our darker skinned brothers and sisters for too long. It’s time to end inequality. Join us in our effort to make a difference.
